Cornerback Bobby McCain was “solid” enough in his start against the Baltimore Ravens that Interim Head Coach Dan Campbell said he will get the call again next Monday night against the New York Giants.

“I would say solid,” Campbell said of McCain’s performance. “There again, they hit a couple of passes on him. Certainly (Matt) Schaub went after him a little bit, but I’ll say it again, the kid, all he’s doing is getting game experience and he’s going to be better for it. He competed. He never got frustrated, as if they’re picking on me and I’m not making plays.

“I mean, he just keeps getting hanging in there like, you know what, I’m going to get the next one. And his mistakes are rookie, fundamental, technique mistakes that can all be cleaned up. And he’ll be better. Just like, DeVante Parker was better than he was last week. The kid is getting better. That’s because he got a full game under his belt last week. I feel that what happened yesterday is only going to make Bobby better as well.”

McCain was credited with seven tackles and one pass defensed against Baltimore.
Defensive tackle Robert Thomas II played in his first NFL game Sunday, but it unfortunately is likely to be his last of the season.

Thomas left the game with an elbow injury in the fourth quarter, and Campbell said Monday the injury involved a dislocation and could be classified as long term.
Campbell said he was hoping that defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, who missed the Baltimore game because of a calf injury, would be able to ready for the game against the Giants next Monday. ... Campbell indicated all five starting offensive linemen along with tight end Dion Sims got a game ball for their work in the run game. ... Wide receiver Matt Hazel also made his NFL debut, and played three snaps on offense

Why was Hazel active? Because Matthews was out?
It would be good to see if he has what it takes to be a legit #4 WR for us next season. Landry, Parker, Stills Hazel. Matthews probably walks because our money needs to be spent on positions of dire need.

He showed an ability to be in coverage and not touch the ball. Where have I seen that before? Nearly every DB to wear a Dolphins uniform not named Brent Grimes, Reshad Jones, or Vontae Davis. You can't play in this league if teams can throw the ball through you because a veteran QB who does his research learns that in his film study.

Still looking for an answer at CB because he's not gonna be it.

McCain should be fine going forward. Still think we should have given up a 5th for Brandon Boykin though...

At this point...let him learn, I don't think his future is on the boundary, but I do think he could be a nickle guy going forward...getting him game experience is going to help.

Some are so quick to judge....not every player is plug and play coming out of college.

This is a great time to give McCain and Lippet some snaps to evaluate going forward.

I liked Bobby McCain in camp a lot but he got killed out there on Sunday. Hopefully these are just growing pains, but he does not look ready.

McCain was awful. I wanted Taylor back......hell try Lippett....something.

McCain on the boundary is not something I ever imagined and the kid had some struggles . . . . but I NEVER wanna see Jamar Taylor out there again . . . he's had chance after chance to prove himself and all he's proven is he'll end up the worst CB not named Reggie Howard, in a Fins uniform.

I agree with throwing Lippet out there tho . . . he's a project but may as well throw him a couple of live bullets this year.

Taylor's had multiple opportunities. Time to move on.

I still don't understand why we always get all these smaller corners....Lippet is the only corner with legit size that can match up with all those big WRs in the NFL now....we need some big corners back there.

Ozzy rules

Reggie Howard lmao...I was thinking more Cameron Worrell

Problem is that every DB I've seen who lets passes be thrown through them never improves that. You could expect a young player to be caught out of position from time to time, or maybe exposed from a technique standpoint, but when you can be in position and not even touch the ball, that's just lack of an innate skill that I've never seen anyone in a Dolphins uniform compensate for.

I'd rather take a player like Will Davis and teach him more consistency, but the Dolphins are always taking players like Jamar Taylor and hoping ball skills will come. I've never seen it happen.

Maybe at best McCain turns into Nolan Carroll, who is far from the worst we've had.
