A lot of people have expressed that Boise doesn't deserve their ranking nor their BCS bowl due to their weak schedule (90th). Yet, what I think is more important is the fact that they have met every challenge that was presented to them and, in my opinion, that is what makes a great team.
Let's also not forget that they are 39-1 in their conference in the last 5 years and have won the WAC championship 5 times in 6 years, with them sharing the championship one other year. They are perfect against the PAC 10 at home and have only lost once to a PAC 10 school in recent history.
Boise State plays the schedule that is offered to them. When they were invited to play at Georgia, they did so. That Georgia team later ended up playing in a BCS bowl. When they were invited to the Liberty Bowl against Louisville, Boise State was playing against the number one rated offense that year and still made it an exciting game. The fact is, no one wants to play them because the risk vs. benefit is lopsided in Boise State's favor.
This may be the best Broncos team in history, their defense is much improved and their offense is more balanced with Ian Johnson carrying the load and leading the NCAA in Touchdowns. Zebransky has limited his turnovers and is playing smarter football, managing the game well.
I am looking forward to the Fiesta Bowl, or whatever Bowl Boise gets invited to. I know that wherever they go they will be the underdogs, and be expected to be blown out. I guarantee personally that this will not happen, and if what they did to Oregon State is any indication of their ability- they can play with the big boys and win.
