Boxer Leavander Johnson dies from beating

This is what unfortunately happens in a sport where the object is to knock the other guy senseless. I know there are boxing fans here and understand that there is a science behind it, but boxing in general is a brutal sport.
 
I love boxing and this is a sad story. R.I.P. Leavander Johnson This guy was the epitome of a champion!
 
Sad story. I didnt get to see this fight, did the refs not stop it intime or was there really nothign that could have been done? I hate to watch fights the refs let go too far, stopping them early stinks but damn its better than having someone die or become permantly brain damaged.
 
I heard nothing wrong about the way the refs called the fight. I know Johnson had taken a beaten but I don't think anyone was suspicious of his health, especially since he was fine after the fight and didn't go unconscious until he made it to the lockeroom. He fought this last fight like he fought most of his fights, with heart. It's ashame that it all ended the way it did but sometimes these things happen in boxing. This guy's story on how he became a champ is a great one. He's in a better place right now!
