The first is a complete joke, but the fight between Manfredo and the canvas should be interesting.

Joe Calzaghe vs Peter Manfredo

Yes, the same Peter Manfredo you saw on the first season of The Contender vs the man who made the previously seemingly unstoppable Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy look like a complete amateur. I cringe at the thought of whats going to happen to poor Peter on Saturday. And dont blame Calzaghe for this one. No one wants to fight the guy. If Peter makes it past the 4th round, I'll wear women's underwear for a week.

The next fight should be a barnburner and if you're a boxing fan, you better not miss this one:

Joshua Clottey vs Diego Corrales

Yes it's a huge jump in weight for Chico but we all know how tough he is and how hard he can crack. Clottey is no easy shell to crack and never stops coming forward. They say styles make fights, well these two were made for each other. I'm not so sure moving up two weight classes is a wise move, but 147 is where it's at right now. If he wins here, it will open up lots of doors (Mayweather (rematch), Cotto, Margarito  ). I still for the life of me could not understand how Diego consistently was able to make 135 or made himself do so when he has the height to fight at Welterweight. As far as Clottey, he arguably should have been given the decision over Margarito back in December. But, hey, that's boxing. Viewing advice: Don't blink or go to the bathroom between rounds.

Hey Dub Fire That manfredo fight will be more competitive then you think mark my words. This fight goes the distance and manfredo will make a good showing for himself.

I have not seen anything in Manfredo's career to think he can give a guy like Calzaghe any problems whatsoever. If he does, I'll the first to come on here and give you huge props.

K if he makes the fight exciting you come on here and give me props.

bad fight for chico.

He knows it too.

Says its do or die. His handlers are not doing him any favors by putting him in the ring with a rough and rugged true Welterweight who feels he got robbed in his last fight.

corrales/clottey is a damn good fight.

corrales is getting his *** whupped though. :boohoo:

corrales got too much heart. can't believe it made it the distance. he needs to retire.

Pish fight Manfredo looked like a startled rabbit stuck in the headlights.

Calzaghe had to accept the fight to get the media attention he deservers. Arguably one of the top 3 fighters in the world at the moment IMO.

Once again Showtime trumps HBO. HBO goes with Manfredo who absolutely embarrased himself and the network by deciding not to fight. Granted the stoppage was very questionable since Manfredo wasn't hurt but when someone throws 20 unanswered punches, you understand why the ref would do that. I'm gonna have to disagree with your statement scottish that Calzaghe is one of the top 3 fighters in the world. While 20 defenses in a row is sweet, until Calzaghe steps into the ring with a bonafied champ, he can't be considered in that spot. No-one at Super Middleweight can be considered top 3 in the world however because none of the top 3 super-middleweights fight anywhere but their home country, in front of thousands who adore them. Until Kessler, Mundaine, and Calzaghe leave their backyard and take a tough fight in the U.S. against a bonafide opponent, they can't be considered that high. That is why I hope Kessler and Calzaghe get it on and the winner comes over here and steps to the Winky-Bernard winner. If Calzaghe beats Kessler and then the winner of Hopkins-Wright, then he'll easily stake claim to top 3 in the world. But until Calzaghe or Kessler do that, I don't think the wins on their resume earn them that position. I mean if Calzaghe's best win if Jeff Lacy that doesn't say much. Lacy is a product of Olympic hype and while he had some great knockouts to begin his career, anyone who watches him fight knows he's nothing more then a puncher and that any boxer was capable of boxing his ears off (which Calzaghe did)!

As far as Corrales, he was all heart. He fought very well against a quality opponent at welterweight but Clottey's power was way to much for him in the ring. Clottey snapped Corrales head back with punches throughout the fight and really had Corrales hurt. It's ashame the ref didn't stop this fight because Corrales should have never been allowed to go the distance. The guy is a punching bag at this point and is really starting to scare people with his speech from all the punishment his brain has taken. Chico is a warrior, I fully understand it's part of his appeal but refs should not be concerned about whether or not a fighter is trying to make it to the bell and should be more concerned with the fighters health. Remember what happened to Burgos a few weeks ago. The ref let him attempt to finish the fight after getting hit with numerous hard shots the whole fight and he wound up in ICU (but is improving thank God). Corrales was a great fighter during his prime and has all the heart in the world but it's time people start being honest with him and letting him know he can't cut it with the top fighters in the world anymore. His handlers put him in a dangerous situation moving him all the way up to welterweight and putting him in there with a monster like Clottey. I mean at least feel the water before you jump in with the sharks. Hopefully Corrales has one last hurrah match against someone he can knock out and them moves on with his life. This sport has taken a lot out of him and while last night he showed more heart then any fighter who has ever laced a pair of gloves, I am seriously concerned with his health and hope he makes the right decision before he ends up punch drunk!

As for Clottey, he proved he was one of the world's best welterweights against Margarito before he broke his hand IMO. Last night really didn't cement that anymore for me however because Corrales is a blown up lightweight who's a punching bag (where's the defense Corrales?). Clottey will hang with anybody though and I hope to keep seeing him in solid fights on TV. He's going to be a handful for a lot of top welterweights and even though he let his defense slip last night, you can't blame him when you know he's fighting a guy who has no chance to knock him out. Plus he was banging inside so much it's hard to have flawless defense when your fighting an opponent who specializes in going toe to toe and going against a fighter who will let you land 3 punches so he can land one. Hopefully everyone doesn't run from putting their fighters in the ring with Clottey although I assume they will. It's ashame though because the guy is as tough as they come and a fighter I can't wait to see again against calibar competition!

I was at the Calzaghe fight, it was definitely stopped too early. Joe didn't land half his punches when he had Manfredo on the ropes, and he definitely wasn't out of it.
