Whats your philosophy? I usually go for BPA. You don't ever want to pass on a future hall of famer just cause you need a FS. HOWEVER, I see a Dolphins team with so many needs or areas that need improvement, QB, WR, TE, T, G, CB, S, maybe a young LB just in case. Because of this I would think this year we need to look at BPA in an area of need. Obviously it sounds like the best of both worlds but what I mean is that if a guy like Gaines Adams or Carriker or Anderson or Peterson is there, they might be the BPA. We have way too many pressing needs to take a player at a position we already are set at just because he is the highest on our draft board. I would rather go a little bit further down on our board in this specific draft.

Right now the BPA at #9 will likely be a need as well. We have a lot of holes to fill.

Best Need Available.

Obviously, we are not going to draft a RB like Peterson if he were to fall. No doubt he would be the best player available...but, not for us.

We skew the draft board toward the need...and which rounds we project to fill those needs.

I dunno, I feel Cam would draft Peterson, cuz of his offensive mind... I think AP resembles LT much closer than RB... I would not be surprised if that happened, unless they got a great offer on a trade.

I think the highlighted statement says it all, the last thing we need to do IMO is take a DL just because he's the BPA. We have too many NEEDS not to fill them in this draft.

We do need DL though.

BPA all the way. Especially when your picking Top 10. Theres not really a single position we couldn't upgrade at.

I think our phone will be ringing if Peterson is still there.

Pick #9, I'll go Need and I currently would like to select Levi Brown. We're bordering on desperate to solidify the left side of the line. After that go BPA all the way!!

Trading down is the best option. If a Quinn or AP fell to us they would have remarkable trade down value. At the very least the Rams seem to be dying for Okoye. We have a lot of holes that could be immediatley filled with multiple low first/second round picks.

:yeahthat:

Agreed.

No matter how bad you are, with the draft, free agency, and the cap every team in the league could be in the Super Bowl in three years. That's really the only goal we should have.

Our two best players are Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas. JT is getting old. ZT is already old, but still playing at a high level. So I don't think there is a single position that we can rule out.

But when you look at our team vs the top prospects this year, certain needs are glaring...

Calvin Johnson vs Chris Chambers
CJ would definitely be an upgrade. Ginn and Meachem? Maybe, maybe not.

JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn vs Culpepper
This is the big debate right now.

Joe Thomas and Levi Brown vs NOBODY
Hmmm.....

Adrian Peterson vs Ronnie Brown and (probably) Ricky Williams
RB is not a big need for us right now. So Peterson would have to be the next Barry Sanders for me to ever be happy about taking him.

Alan Branch and Amobi Okoye vs Vonnie Holliday
Branch doesn't really make sense if you ask me. And for what it's worth, Mike Mayock called him a classic boom or bust pick, and dropped Branch out of his Top Ten.

Okoye is going to be very good for a very long time. But DT just isn't a pressing need this year.

Gaines Adams and Jamaal Anderson vs Jason Taylor
Like I said, JT is getting older. And there is another end of the defensive line. And we lost Kevin Carter. Don't be surprised if the Fins draft one of these guys if they're still on the board.

LaRon Landry vs Jason Allen
Landry is a beast. But then what do we do with Allen, Bell, and Hill? Thanks again, Saban, you dick!

Leon Hall and Darrelle Revis vs Travis Daniels? Will Allen? Will Poole?
Who is our best cornerback? We don't have a lockdown corner. But many consider Hall and/or Revis a reach at #9. Marcus McCauley and Josh Wilson would both be an upgrade. And both should be available in the 2nd round.

Patrick Willis vs Zach Thomas
Willis would be a great pick. But he wouldn't start this year unless ZT got injured. Can we afford to draft a guy this high who won't even start?
