supposing mcclain is gone.if the best player on the board is an offensive lineman would you take him at 12 ? i believe we still have a hole to fill up front. or supposing joe haden sits at twelve.we have young cbs but this guy is better.do you think we should we draft position only and take the #2 or #3 guy at a need position or draft a guy who's #1 rated and sure fire star in the league?
remember we passed on willis for ginger becuz we thought we were set at LB.
thoughts. also curious about the pouncey kid who declared. didn't see him play but sounds like he's a guard/center combo. would be perfect maybe round 2.

No, BPA at the #12 spot will be Bryant or McClain, and if for some strange reason they are both gone, the best player available would be a toss up imo between Earl Thomas (sorry CJ Spiller lovers).

Either way, any of these players would be very good picks at #12, and the dream is one of McClain or Bryant.

I guarantee you one of these three will be available at least.

Most NFL teams draft for need most of the time.

If you need a QB but the best player on "someone's chart" is a linebacker and you have a good corp of linebackers, it makes little sense to draft another one early.

Only teams that are really set everywhere can draft BPA.

Spiller may be the bpa at pick #1. You have to take him at #12

I wouldnt take an O-lineman in that scenario you mentioned, but if Joe Haden was there, then I'd think about it for a long time.....I'm not 100% convinced on our two young CB's yet...They showed some promise, but I'm not sure just yet....also, who knows how long Will Allen will be around for either, so taking Joe Haden if he were the BPA would make sense to me.

it will be bpa at the position of need whcih is wr, ilb, olb, rb, fs, probably in that order

BPA is short for "best player available at a position of need"

bpa is best player available on the whole board

OK Big Dog... You dont pass up on a need player that grades out slightly below the other non-need guys that are available... So if BPA is a LT and next BPA is Dez Bryant... According to you, we choose the LT then right??

I must plead ignorance to Earl Thomas however I have read that the FO is high on Clemens so again like with Wake is that really a priority need?

I wonder also if McClain is truly a cant miss? ILB's are not usually drafted that high and good ones like RB can be found later, sooooo I think we fans maybe missing other players that might be a target for the FO.

I just keep thinking that what they want is Tough,Smart & Physical players and I keep coming back to the fact that toughness starts upfront.

Im thinking DT here.

no way, we go after the guy we need if it is dez, or another lb, or spiller, we go after what we need, why would we need another lt, unless we slide long to lg that would be awesome, but that is a whole different story. i was telling ZOUNDS that bpa is player on the board, not player at need

i'm thinking spiller will be there and there's no way he gets thru us. BPA always dictates your choice, has to!

i would rater have bryant if he is there, spiller is too small, don't like his frame unless he bulks up, we could always get an lb in the second

Acquiring Mike Nolan has changed my perspective a bit on who we might and ought draft in RD 1. Before, I wanted Bryant before anyone else. Now, I'm liking Earl Thomas a lot. I know that Clemons is a great athlete, but I don't know that he has the instincts to be a great FS. I can't escape the Ed Reed comparison with Thomas. With Nolan's system, I think Thomas would be an early favorite for Defensive Rookie Of The Year.

if dez bryant is available when we pick there is no question in my mind that he will be the bpa on the board...

barring eric berry
