Quarterback commandments:
1. Ignore other opinions – Press or TV, agents or advisors, family or wives, friends or relatives, fans or hangers on – ignore them on matters of football, they don’t know what’s happening here. (so far i think Henne does this and Brees without a doubt)
2. Clowns can’t run a huddle – don’t forget to have fun but don’t be the class clown. Clowns and leaders don’t mix. Clowns can’t run a huddle. (according to Calvin Pace Henne violates this rule HAHA, honestly both QB's do it well which is saying alot that Henne controls the huddle after 2.5 games)
3. Fat QBs can’t avoid the rush – A quarterback throws with his legs more than his arm. Squat and run. (both may not be the best runners but both have good feet and can move around the pocket or even move the pocket...brees does it better due to experience)
4. Know your job cold – this is not a game without errors. Keep yours to a minimum. Study. (Brees is def a student of the game...and we have all heard Henne has bought a computer to study at home HE GETS IT)
5. Know your own players – Who’s fast? Who can catch? Who needs encouragement? Be precise. Know your opponent. (Brees has this down to a science, Henne is still learning but hopefully the bye week has advanced this even more than he has shown. He knew to go to Ginn on the go route past Revis and when he needed big catches he went to Cam, both good signs)
6. Be the same guy every day – in condition. Preparing to lead. Studying your plan. A coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality. Prepare yourself and remember, impulse decisions usually equal mistakes. (Brees as far as i can tell yes....and Henne well his nickname is the robot i think that tells the story)
7. Throwing the ball away is a good play – sacks, interceptions and fumbles are bad plays. Protect against those. (Henne learned this from Penny and Brees knows discretion is the better part of valor stats are NOT the most important things WINS ARE)
8. Learn to manage the game – personnel, play call, motions, ball handling, proper reads, accurate throws, play fakes. Clock. Clock. Clock. Don’t you ever lose track of the clock. (Brees is a master of this, Henne has shown good sings of it and learned from one of the games great game managers he is well on his way)
9. Get your team in the end zone – passing stats and TD passes are not how you’re going to be judged. Your job is to get your team in the end zone and that is how you will be judged. (Brees leads one of the most potent offenses in the NFL over the last few years, Henne has scored 31 and 38 in his two starts and his limited other time vs SD and the Cardinals 2 TD's the man scores points and TD's at that)
10. Don’t panic – when all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that steers the ship. If you have a panic button so will everyone else. Our ship can’t have a panic button. (Does Brees ever sweet if he does i havent seen it, Henne again the robot, D couldnt stop the Jest what did he do oh only scored 3 times in the 4th quarter i say he is good at this.)
11. Don’t be a celebrity QB – we don’t need any of those. We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out, every day, every week and every season and lead their team to win after win after win. (Brees has done great things for the NO community and is a leader for many great causes that is not what this means Brees shies away from the cameras and never calls out anybody he wants to be a great QB not a model or an actor, Henne is good with the media and is kinda a hot QB right now getting alot of coverage yet he remains humble and respects his opponents does his talking on the field always has)
So looking at this both are astute follows of BP 11 commandments. Which is why Brees has had alot of success and Henne has been able to step in a lead this team. We have two skilled QB's who can make all the throws should be a great game to watch....BUUUUUUT GO FINS!!!!!!
