Brady Quinn/Brian Brohm

With Jamarcus Russell's stock soaring and Brady Quinn's stock dropping as of late, would it be out of line to suggest that the Dolphins might be able to pick Quinn at the #9 spot. And with Brian Brohm's coach Bobby Petrino going to the Falcons, might he enter the draft. Dwayne Jarrett and Calvin Johnson's stocks have been rising. That along with some underclassmen who recently declared for the draft makes this draft very interesting.
Out of the 8 teams ahead of us, how many teams are in need of a QB.
Oakland- No doubt in my mind they get Jamarcus Russell
Detroit- They could go with Joe Thomas who is ranked higher in BPA than Quinn is. Even more interesting, the injury to Kevin Jones could be serious meaning they might wanna draft Adrian Peterson.
Cleveland- They could easily go with a QB and lets say they do in fact draft Brady Quinn who has said he would like to play for the Browns. I believe its either Quinn or Alan Branch. Many would say Calvin Johsnon but they have holes to fill.
Tampa Bay- I dont think they go with a QB since they just gave Simms a contract extension. I think they go with Joe Thomas or Calvin Johnson- whoevers still there. If theyre both gone, they go with Alan Branch.
Washington- They need a pass rusher. They go with Gaines Adams.
Arizona- Not sure who they go with but easy to say, they dont need a QB. Maybe they go with the pass rusher from Arkansas-Jamaal Anderson.
Houston- They could go with a QB but I think theyd be better suited with a RB which they really need.
Minnesota- They could go with a QB too but I think they drafted T. Jackson in the late 2nd round I believe so with that in their mindset, they might go with Dwayne Jarrett to upgrade the WR position.
Miami- Not many teams ahead of Miami DESPERATELY need a QB which could be good news. If a guy like Brian Brohm or Brady Quinn is there at the 9th pick, you cant pass on him. Hopefully in the upcoming years we will not be this high in the draft so this would be our best year to take a potentially good QB. With that pick, we can get rid of Harrington and put Brohm/Quinn 3rd on the depth chart as to let them know they are the future of this team.
Fin Fans know more than anybody that the QB position is the most important position in football. We havent had stability in this dept. since the last time we drafted a QB in 1983!! Its been too long.

DRAFT FORUM!! Its there for a reason. Quinn will still almost certainly be gone, we have a good shot at Brohm if he comes out, and also at Troy Smith assuming he plays pretty well tonight.

Cleveland's Charlie Frye is still devloping and so is the Redskins guy, forgot his name.

Anyway I think there's a higher chance that Brohm will declare for the draft now. Unless a their new coach has a similar system.

I think we can get Drew Stanton in the second, OL should be our first round pick.

Stanton will likely be a reach at our spot in the second. You just dont pass on franchise QBs and pretend your gonna be ok. It hasnt worked for us yet, but people still keep thinking this way, amazes me.
We are much more likely to land a good OL guy in the rest of the draft than QB. Aside from Thomas, there doesnt really seem to be a road paver like McNeil was in last years draft. Levi Brown is to run oriented, and Gaithers is to raw. The other guys seem to largely be staying in school.

I have been saying more or less the same thing since we were 1-6. It seems so obvious, yet some people on this forum still start threads stating that no way should we draft a QB in rd 1. I can't believe anyone with any football sense would value a WR over a QB.
I think the player we draft in rd 1 will be determined by the thinking of the new HC.

Good points. If the Dolphins have a chance at a franchise qb they have to go for it. Miami is in a position where they might have to trade up to get one of the top three -- assuming Brohm now declares. Oakland and Russell seem like a perfect fit. I doubt Detroit passes on Quinn with Kitna up in years and no one behind him. Tampa Bay is another team to watch out for as far as qb's go because Gruden loves qb's and Simms isn't a franchise one. Dolphins might have to get above the Bucs to make it happen.

I do like some of the second-tier qbs including Trent Edwards and Jordan Palmer if the Dolphins can't get one of the top three. My sleeper pick is Matt Gutierrez who got caught behind Chad Henne in Michigan.

Gee would that mean your sig should be in the draft forum as well since you want us to pick a qb in the first round?

the only thing you have written here that makes any sense is the last thing you wrote and your right it is up to the new head coach!:fire:

I would draft Brian Brohm but not Brady Quinn. I agree we have a shot at one of them. Russell will be gone and I don't think QB's will be 3 of the first 8 picks in the draft.

Oakland, Detroit, Cleveland, Tampa, Minny and Houston all could entertain taking a QB. I doubt Cleveland or Minny will as they used 2nd rounders last year to address the issue. I don't buy Tampa not thinking about it because they resigned Simms to an incentive laden two year deal. Russell will likely go number 1 and I think Brohm would go prior to number 9. I think the best chance would be Quinn whose stock may be sinking after a poor Bowl game and average to poor games against good defenses. I'm not a fan of Quinn but would love him to fall to us and have someone give up a 1st and 2nd to move up to take him. We may be able to pick up Smith or Brennan in the late first or second but I'm sceptical with Smith and haven't seen Brennan against good teams.

I also agree with you guys. Whens a better time to draft a new qb than with a new coach. Now is the year to do it I believe.

Agreed. I hope we draft the BPA.
