While I could live with James being a long time right tackle for the team and another veteran replacement for Bushrod, Branden Albert strikes me as a player that must go. Don’t get me wrong either, I like the guy and he was a great left tackle at one time. However, a combination of injury issues and the rise of Laremy Tunsil means his days are numbered to me.

Albert’s release would also free up around $7 million for the Miami Dolphins this offseason. With the team needing to add some starters and depth this offseason, we must also not forget that they will try to re-sign key players Kenny Stills and Andre Branch. With all of the money about to change hands, that $7 million would go a long way this offseason.

Mario Williams is the first player who should get chopped. Albert should be evaluated, but I would cut 6 others ahead of him.

That's a tough decision. I'd keep him for one more year so that the team could concentrate on building the defense.

Let Albert go and that opens up two holes at guard and would likely mean a high pick for that position as well as an addition in free agency. Wait a year and maybe the Dolphins have most of their needs filled on defense.

To the IP OP! Albert shouldn't be the first person we cut! The first person we cut should be DION JORDAN! Then we have Mario Williams, the Jordan Cameron, Koa Misi and Maybe ALBERT. If we decide to do so well we better have a damn good replacement, we don't need to be creating holes when we're trying to fix others.

I agree. Keep the line the way it is for one more season and hope they can stay relatively healthy. Tunsil goes to LT in '18.

That's hoping for too much. Why would all of a sudden everyone stay healthy for a full season? Not saying cut BA but "hope' they stay healthy is insane. We saw how important it is to have the same 5 starters out there so banking on injury prone guys like BA and Pouncey is crazy.

Ozzy rules!!

I guess you people didn't learn from this season. All of the teams in the playoffs have great offensive lines with great depth. Look at the Dallas Oline, some of their depth could start and improve our O-line significantly.

At the very least we should keep Albert as a contingency plan in case of injuries. With the injury history of our o-line we need as many healthy good fatboys as we can get... not just the starting 5 linemen. We need a contingency plan for Pouncey, Albert, and Tunsil who have had the injury bug this year and previous years too. We need 8 total linemen that can be plugged in, in case of injury, if we want to get to the next level were teams like Dallas and the Falcons are because some of these guys WILL get injured next year... it is unavoidable no matter who you have as personnel.

Yeah, BA isn't in the ball park of first player needing to be cut. We aren't in a salary cap position this year that it's nessacary. In 2018 we have to cut ties with him. The smart approach with BA is going to be the wait and see approach. First we have to wait and see if we can get a rg to replace Busheid . If we do that attention moves to LG. No matter what we have to replace Tunsill at LG in 2018, but if we can get someone at LG it would be more ideal. If we have guys to step in at both guard spots then you open completion at LT, and the best player starts, and then we have options. BA could be traded to a team who loses a LT in camp, he could be our top back up and Tubsil could always go back to guard if someone goes down. With how fragile our oline has been I think it would behoove Miami to keep him for one more season. He is also a true leader, and someone Gase said was amazing in the locker room.

I did say, "relatively" healthy. And for sure, get some quality depth.

I'm good either way. I hope it doesn't come down to Stills or Albert. Stills is worth keeping for the chemsitrys sake. Pretty much everyone knows what to do in that room. We add a new guy who to learn a whole new system, a diffucult one at that. If we cut Albert we'll be looking for a guard. If we keep him we'll most likely be downgrading our deep threat and messing with the WR room big time

What we need is 5 offensive lineman to stay healthy
and play the majority of offensive snaps TOGETHER

Atlanta's offensive line

Chester played 100% of the teams offensive snaps
Schraeder...99.9%
Mack...98%
Levitre...98%
Matthews...94.1%

Dallas was decent with

Martin with 100% of offensive snaps played
Frederick...100%
Free...99.5%
Smith...79%
Leary...75.9%

Our problem is a bad player such as Bushrod plays 99.8% of
our offensive snaps #1 in our offense

Then you have Pouncey with 31.8%
Albert with 76.1 %
Steen 43%
Urbik 40.9
Young 15.5%

absolutely no continuity with our offensive line
and the main reason was Pouncey and "progress killer" Albert

We need a young and healthy offensive line to grow together
and play like a cohesive unit. All THESE #1 draft picks mean crap
if they cant stay healthy and play as 1 unit.

If we are confident of picking up a good left guard in FA then Albert needs to go and pay the new guard with his money. Move Tunsil to tackle, working with his new guard and getting their combination going ... and working with Tannehill, Ajayi and the new right guard....so that the offensive line peaks in a couple of years.....the same time Tannehill will peak after a few years with Gase.

If we keep Albert now its just wasted time...time Tunsil needs practising left tackle and working with his left guard of the future. Time Tannehill and Ajayi need working with them as well.

If u move tunsil to left tackle and take alberts money and put it towards a quality veteran guard I'm fine with it. If u cut him and try to patch the guard spots together again that's stupid. It's crazy how many resources have been put into the oline and still seem so far away

You can't cut Albert until after signing a quality FA guard.
