this guy is great, i have been following him for a couple of years now and always knew his potential. Amazing 8-0 with 2.18 ERA. Completed another shutout against the Reds last night. I watched about 4 occurences where there was a man on third with one out. No one could get even get a sac fly on this guy! He has like one fly out per game! Only nine walks on the season, most of those were semi intentional. Not much talk about the Dbacks on this board so i thought i would give him a shoutout.

Dbacks look pretty decent this year, but i was reminded that their current record (although good, 1st in NL West) is the same as last years at this time. Last year was not a very good year, tho it was an improvement from '04. Of course the NL 'Worst' is considered a terrible division, The Rockies, Dodgers, all have improved from last year. No one is counted out in the division

It's a fact! :shakeno:

Look at last years numbers. Some guys start fast out of the gate then die. Until Webb proves otherwise, he is one of those guys. The numbers dont' lie.

Started off 6-0 last year. Then came June and he died. Ending the year 8-12.

This year he is 8-0. And well, its June soon and let's see if he dies again.

i know that is true, i feel as webb progresses in his career tho he will develop more consistency. I dont expect 16-0 obviously lol. I think he may have some more run support this year tho..
 
MikeO. Your overrating record a little much.

Webb started out 6-0. But he went 2-3 in June posting a 3.00 ERA. He had a horrible July going 1-4 posting a 6.34 ERA. But then the last 3 months, or the rest of the season, he posted ERAs of 2.46, 2.75, and 2.57. He really only had 1 month that wasnt great. He recieved little to no run support last year, he was still very good at 14-12, throughout the entire season.

I wouldnt say he "died"

his stats were still pretty good.

But this team is also a different (and better) team (even though the rotation is shaky outside of Webb).

With Webb,Tracy,Jackson,Drew,Valverde,Hudson,Young,Upton, umong others the D-Backs have a bright future.

I agree the DBacks have a nice future ahead. Other than Webb I'm not in love with their pitching at all.

I am however big fans of Tracy and Jackson, those kids are studs. I think its huge that the DBacks signed Tracy long term.
 
Chris Young is going to be a good player for the D-Backs.

I think cruz has showed some potential....bautista is a decent starter too

The only thing that makes me think Cruz won't pan out is that he's been on tons of teams in his short career and both the Braves and Oakland let this guy go. He seems like he might turn into a Bruce Chen type, has a lot of potential but never realizes how to use it all.
