Braves trade for Teixeir

In what's likely the blockbuster of this trading season, the Braves have reached an agreement to acquire star first baseman Mark Teixeira from the Rangers in a multiplayer trade, SI.com has confirmed.

The deal sends Teixeira and reliever Ron Mahay to the Braves for top catching prospect Jarrod Saltalamacchia, shortstop prospect Elvis Andrus and two other prospects.

The trade is contingent on a review of medical records, according to sources. An announcement could come as early as tonight.

It's not worth it for the Braves if they have to give up Salty. Watch out Phils you mean? The Muts are gonna fade like a bad sun tan. :D
 
****. Putting Teixiera at first, instead of Scott Thorman, is a HUGE upgrade. That lineup is suddenly pretty dangerous: Chipper Jones, Renteria, Johnson, Diaz and Teixiera make a strong core, and if Andruw Jones and Brian McCann hit like they're capable of, the Mets are in trouble.

where is salty going to play? i dont know why they just dont move him to first anyways, but if they want teixara, where will salty play if they dont trade him. midas well.
 
good short term trade for the Braves (Tex wants to be a FA so they might have a hard time extending him) and an excellent long term trade for the Rangers. Not gonna say the Braves will regret it either, because A)They've got McCann (whose only a year older than Salty), and B)They do a great job developing their own players.

While I agree

The Rangers got the better of the deal, he was not going back and they raped the Braves system, that catcher is going to be a stud!
