NBCSports.com's Tom Curran reports the Dolphins are nearing a contract agreement with Michigan OT Jake Long.

The deal would ensure that Long is the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. The Dolphins began talks with Long's agent, Tom Condon, about two weeks ago and never engaged in serious deliberations with any other player. Curran writes that with Long off the board, St. Louis is "a lock" to use its first-round pick on a defensive player. Chris Long is reportedly "very confident" he'll be the Rams' choice.

I'm on a high now, this is great news. Please be true. Still counting down the days to the draft though, then it becomes fact!!

The Dolphins flirtations with Michigan tackle Jake Long over the past few weeks have been well-publicized but this morning, with six days to go before the draft, a league source is indicating that a contract agreement is nearly in place

Its a league source. Im glad, because ''word on the street'' or ''I think'' never seem to be true. Hopefully there are no interuptions and this can get done nice and smoothly.

Man I cannot wait to see R & R running behind Long,Carey,Smiley and Satele.

Awesome. Lets hope this means that we don't have to complain about a ****ty o line for years to come.

Great to hear, if we can not trade out of the #1 pick, his is the best player available at that spot.

This is very good news! It happened as I downloaded my new Dolphins browser with Mozilla. What a great looking browser.

soo much misinformation.... I hope this is true! What an advantage to have him already signed!

The league source has to be an agent to also say that Chris Long is confident he's going to be a Ram. Well at least we'll shore up our oline
