Brees/Saban interesting Fact.

saban and mueller flew to the airport in lousiana to sign brees before he met with the Saints because they both knew he wouldn't leave once he met with them. This was even after the doctors didnt clear him.
 
I don't believe that for a second! This is the same guy that brought us Marcus Vick. This is the guy that HAD to have control of everything, and "the doctors" would not clear Brees? Bulls**t, if he really wanted him he would have made it happen.
 
So it was more of the doctors' faults than Saban/Mueller? I guess this changes things a bit.

Are you serious? Marcus Vick was an undrafted free agent. What was the problem with that?
 
As another poster mentioned, Saban had full control of everything, so "if" he ever said he wanted but "couldnt" because the doctors wouldnt clear Brees thats B.S. and we all know that.

It would be another example of Sabans cowardly ways, but its history.
 
In the age of instant and unsubstantiated information, any lie or rumor can be put out there easily, spread like wildfire, maybe with enough hits, get picked up as a google trend, and end up being treated as fact.

Apparently Satan has been attempting to homogenize his mediocre coaching and decision making at the pro-level since he got to Alabama, throwing among others, WH, under the bus. IMO, this is just 3rd or 4th generation propaganda that at some point started being quoted and spread as fact.

I don't believe it. What I believe is that Satan, when faced with adversity, found he couldn't bully grown men, and having to contend with more of his own personnel decision foibles, cut his losses and ran like a coward before his NFL reputation for mediocrity was revealed as even worse.
 
it could be propaganda but our medical staff was horrible back then. In Wanny's last year here, the year before Saban got here we signed Damien McIntosh and later found out he was in no shape to compete in any time soon. Also, David Boston's ACL tear came after he complained to the training staff about a nagging pain in his knee and they said there was no problem. Plus, we had a couple staff infections back then.

I always thought, and still do think, that we traded for Culpepper because Saban and Mueller accepted the fact that they couldn't offer Brees the money New Orleans could. I mean Mueller and Saban DID fly to the NO airport to meet with Brees before his meeting with the Saints so it's not like they didn't want him. Plus everybody agreed that signing a QB with a knee injury was better than signing someone with a shoulder injury (though you can argue that one since Daunte's knee was completely destroyed).
 
And why wouldn't brees want to rebuild a city and franchise like NO? There was no point in Brees coming here, atleast in his mind. Had Culpepper went to NO and Brees came here I wouldn't be suprised if things turned out opposite.
 
i'm i missing something ? this incredible 20/20 hindsight stuff is getting out of hand we didn't get him, its done over with move on! If we got him and missed on Culpepper then the roles would be reverse on this board, all of these drew threads are an absolute waste

Fact:

Drew was let go because of rivers, he was an okay QB on the verge of being labelled a bust, that wasn't exactly lighting it up in SD, if he was this product that we see now do you think they would have ever let him go?

He's that rare QB that became super good, it's rare! it was a toss-up we picked bad knee over shoulders seems quite logical to me for a qb! get over it, we missed him by that much! while everybody else missed him by a mile!


complain, complain! you don't think there are teams that regret passing up JT,ZT, madison, surtain...blah blah blah..nobody truly every knows

I am fed up with seeing threads crying about didn't get brees..come on lets move forward already!
 
It was either Muellers or Sabans call to sign Brees, not the doctors. Its not like Saban said, Im going to sign him, and the doctors said, no, we wont let you. It was Saban and Muellers fault why we did not get him, not the doctors.
