Brees/vs/Frerrote comparisons

Brees = future perennial pro bowler with rare accuracy/ zip/ intelligence

Frerotte = perennial overhyped backup with a big arm

With everyone on this board so fanatical about arm strength (it often being the one factor that gives reason to dismiss a lot of QB possibilities), why hasn't anyone questioned Brees in the Dolphin Offense? Isn't a vertically based system, and Brees has never been known to have a strong arm has he??

Persoanally I have always been weary of Brees, but love his attitude and do think his accuracu will get us into the playoffs. Brees in a fin uniform gets more exciting as a thought every second. Maybe it's just the fact that a top QB will actually be playing in Miami again.

Brees has actually improved his arm strength as a pro. And it wasn't totally pathetic to begin with.

Arm strength is overrated anyway. Brees has plenty to make the throws we need him to make.

How many times did we need someone who could throw it 70 yards in the air instead of 40? Zero.

What's more important to our offense than straight up arm strength is the ability to accurately make throws 30+ yards.

Weary or wary. Either way he should be a vast upgrade over Gus and what Fiedler was. If we get Drew in free agency hopefully we can get him and Ronnie some offensive help by way of another receiver and offensive line help.

If you want to talk about arm power, Brees must be doing ok because he had 23 40+ yard passes last year and gus only had 8.

And our WR's are way better than SD. Imagine Brees's potential with Chris Chambers!

?

No, he didn't. He had four. But he had 46 over 20+ yards.

(the 23 you mention is for his career, i think)

brees>pile of crap>gus.

Brees did not help MCcardell make the pro bowl

Gus helped Chambers make the pro-bowl....We had Griese, Fiedler, Lucas, and Feeley, none of them helped Chambers...

After all, that pile of crap is not useless...

No, he's not useless. He's a steady veteran presence as an emergency back-up.

But giving him credit for Chambers going to the pro bowl is like giving Paris Hilton credit for Jessica Alba being hot.

Your kidding right? Chris Chambers helped Chris Chamberrs get to the Pro Bowl, if anything Gus hurt Chambers' pursuit of the Pro Bowl by constantly missing Chambers. Gus was OK, but any other starting QB in the league probably would have done just as good a job to get Chambers to the Pro Bowl. And McCardel is nowhere near as good as Chambers is.

In the 2004 Pro bowl skills challenge, Brees placed first in accuracy, but also managed to launch a ball 67 yards in the distance competition for a nice 2nd place finish.

Brees' arm strength is under rated.
