Brent Grimes introduction: “This is awesome to hear Dennis (Hickey) talk about me like that and to know that the organization feels that way about me is a great feeling. I’ve been in this league a while and actually feel appreciated here. That was a big thing for me. I just want to say thank you to the whole Dolphins organization starting with Stephen Ross of course for being our owner and making a final decision that he really wants to pay to keep me here. Then I thank Coach (Joe) Philbin, Coach (Kevin) Coyle, Coach Lou (Anarumo), J.B. (Jeff Burris), Coach (Blue) Adams, all of them. All of the defensive coaches had a great deal in my success this year, and I greatly appreciate it. Then I have to thank my beautiful wife, Niko, for dealing with me all year, keeping me right and getting me up sometimes when the alarm goes off. She does a lot of things for me, getting those meals right, keeping me right. I’m just happy. I’m really happy about this. This is where I wanted to be, and I’m glad it all worked out. My agent did a great job because really I’m just a football player. I don’t really deal with all of that. I told you all year I try not to think too much about the contract things, the numbers and all of (those) things. I just let him do what he does. Ben (Dogra) did a great job, and all I can say is I’m happy and I appreciate it a great deal.”

What's this? A football player that says he wants to be in Miami? According to some people here, the Dolphins are the most dysfunctional franchise on the planet and no one wants to be here. What was Grimes smoking?!

Grimey is the best free agent Ireland ever found. He deserves the big payday. Mrs Grimey needs to show her appreciation.

Ryan Clark said that this was the worst organization ever....wonder if that message got to Grimes

He said we were 3 plays from being 11-5.
I like his work ethic, works hard all year, said it makes it easy going into training camp.

Awesome news but wow 8 mil is a lot!! I hope he can maintain his level of play for 4 more more years... Isn't he getting up there in age though?

He plays SO much bigger than he is! I love his play overall but i'm concerned when it comes to him having to shut down those endzone fades to the larger receivers .. We need Jamar Taylor to step up this year and hopefully we can keep Patterson for much cheaper, if both of those happen then I will be happy with our CB's. We probably need someone else in case Patterson becomes crippled again... damn the guy is a boss and really seemed like a shutdown corner when he's on the field but unfortunately he just can't stay healthy..

So yeah he's 30 years old.. Not bad as long as he just doesn't fall off like the other guys who got paid (aka JONES/ wheeler). Damn I still can't believe how poorly Jones played this past season.. Tisk tisk well he better bust his azz this year or if not we need to cut ties with him and draft a boss safety in the draft!

the dolphins are the most dysfunctional franchise in sports. hes got 16 million reasons to sign in miami......and we had to overpay for a 30 yr old cb for him to stay here.
