Thought this was very interesting when I looked up the numbers. Since Sherman is considered shut down, and one of the best corners in the league or arguably THE best corner in the league, according to these numbers, Grimes is better. I dont know their QBR against but I love that Sherman is the loudmouth and gets all the attention while Grimes, a better corner using the numbers below, is the unsung hero. Ross needs to make Ireland lock him him at any cost (the reason why I say Ross needs to make Ireland lock him up is because I'm not confident that Ireland is smart enough to resign him).

Interesting, had no idea he was so good statistically but not surprised when thinking about his play. Thx
 
Don't get me wrong i think grimes is really good but you can't judge simply by numbers alone because you have to take into account the number of balls thrown in his direction in comparison to grimes. I think Sherman although annoying is better than grimes I think grimes is perfect for this team.
 
I definitely like having him on the field. with carrol coming around we're finally getting some depth at corner
 
In addition to his great athletic play on the field, he has been an excellent role model for the young DBs. It is not a coincidence that Nolan Carroll and even Jimmy Wilson have improved with Grimey's presence, and I'm sure that he is helping to show Davis and Taylor how a top CB plays and conducts himself as a pro, as well.
Here is a short guy who went undrafted out of Shippenburg, (wherever that is? - never heard of it), and all he does is make great plays every week. Congratulations Jeff Ireland on finally signing a terrific player who is making a great contribution to the team. Only mistake was signing him for just one year. His market rate is escalating every game.
 
Yes you make a valid point and I noted that in my post. I do not know what the QBR against is but going by the numbers i posted, Grimes is better than Sherman.

This is why I said Ross needs to make Ireland resign him, because I think that there is too much liability in Ireland and somehow Ireland will let him go. We all know Ireland LOVES creating holes and not filling them
 
I'd say Grimes is different than Sherman but both definitely the same level.
 
Here's the top 50 sorted by QB rating in their zone. Patterson and Grimes are both top 10 in the NFL!

God if Patterson would stay healthy. Top DB duo in the league by the numbers. Even Carroll is rating better than I'd guess.
 
All these stats and shot being thrown around, but basically this is a thread about why Grimes isn't getting national attention.

First I'll say, who the **** cares if anyone nationally cares about our team.

Secondly, when the TEAM wins GAMES, the attention will come.

There is only ONE stat I care about at the end of a ball game. Wins and losses.
