I know this is going to come across as mean spirited. I don't want it to but I could paint it pink and put a pretty ribbon on it and it still will be mean but here goes. I have been watching Favre threaten to retire for god knows how long. He kept the packers hostage year after year with this threat. And every year after all I here during the off season as I search for news on my Favorite team is commentators talking about Favre this and Favre that. Well I just think it would be very fitting (and here is the mean part) if the Green Bay Packers tonight officially ended his career.

Once again I'm sorry if this thread offends but Its how I feel.

I get why one might find Favre a bit annoying but I certainly wouldn't wish a career ending injury upon him. It's irritating to read about his indecisiveness but wanting him to be badly injured? That seems a bit steep.

I know its harsh.... But man I just think it would be fitting:pop:

This is the most overhyped game in NFL history.

The guy is still playing like a top quarterback in the league. He can come back as much as he wants, it's enjoyable to watch. He still has the canon and he can make throws most QB's right now can't make.

Ted Thompson got what he deserved last night. What kind of GM is this guy? Most Packer fans hate this *******. Remember, he's the one who ran Favre out of Green Bay. Favre was being pressured to retire for they can start Aaron Rodgers (Thompson was in love with Rodgers since he drafted him). Even after a 13-3 Favre led season, Thompson still wanted Favre out. Hell, Ted offered 20 million to Favre to stay retired for christ sakes. Talk about throwing the money away huh? Even Rick Spielman isn't that retarded.

Guys, this is not like the Bobby Bowden and FSU situation. Favre can still play at a high level as shown last night. I think Miami fans has an extra hate for him because of all the records he broke, but that's unfair to judge him by. If Marino had stayed healthy like Favre has, Brett probably wouldn't have those records. But give him his credit.

Lets wait to see what Favre can do come week 14 and further into the season.

Remember he was doing pretty well last season with the Jets for the most part of the season and then imploded.

Ted Thompson has made some poor decisions, however, the decision to go with Aaron Rodgers was not one of them. As for the 13-3 season in 2007, you're ignoring the two previous years where the Packers went a combined 12-20. Favre had a fantastic bounce back year in '07, but the team around him performed at a much higher level that year than in any recent year. 2007 was an aberration.

2005: 4-12
2006: 8-8
2007: 13-3
2008: 6-10

2005: 21.5 points allowed per game (19th in the NFL), 18.6 points scored per game (22nd in the NFL)

2006: 22.9 points allowed per game (25th in the NFL), 18.8 points scored per game (22nd in the NFL)

2007: 18.2 points allowed per game (6th in the NFL), 27.2 points scored per game (4th in the NFL)

2008: 23.8 points allowed per game (22nd in the NFL), 26.2 points scored per game (5th in the NFL)

I'm sure the Vikings will have a much better season than the Packers, but it won't be because the Packers are missing Brett Favre. The Vikings have an elite defense, the best running back in the NFL, and a very good OL.

Take Rodgers off the Packers and I doubt the Packers finish with more than 4 wins (at most) this year, that team is terrible. On offense, the Packers have talent at their skilled positions, but they have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Charles Woodson and Donald Driver stated before the game started, that when Aaron Rodgers has time to throw he's the best QB in the NFL. I wouldn't go that far, but I do think he's in the next tier of quarterbacks, after Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

The Packers need Chad Clifton to return healthy in the worst way.

I guess I'm the only guy who's absolutely fed up with Favre =(

You're not alone. I'm fed up with Favre as well. I hope that after this season he will FINALLY (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!) FINALLY call it a career. The legacy whore got his revenge, now let this be the end.

Thank god! I thought I was the only one sick of him. He's been threatening to retire for close to 6 years or more.
