By the way, I asked NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger what he thinks of Thomas. Baldinger a former NFL offensive lineman studied all the draft picks this year.
"Is Daniel thomas going to help this football team? I don't think so. I think they missed on him," Baldinger said.
Why?
"He's a point of entry back which means he needs a hole to make yards rather than be good enough to make the hole himself," Thomas said. "He runs too upright. He's not going to give you anything on third down and he doesn't run with power. He has to build speed to get power. He's not going to push the pile. So I think he's going to be a very limited back for the Dolphins

I think not having a full offseason of OTAs, TCs, etc.. really hurt Thomas this year. I think he will be much improved next year. I dont agree that we missed, way tooooooo early ot tell. Baldinger may end up beign right, but he is guessing right now. If is a legit talent evaluator he would be working as one.

That's pretty much what other scouts and NFL Draft Analysts said about Thomas. I didn't like the pick after reading and hearing negative things on him.

I think the reason why the FO gave up so much for thomas
was they looked at him as a jack of all trades back that could fill different roles
He did wildcat, catches good for a back, supposed to run between the tackles decent,
Overall i think it was not wise to give up so much for him when you have other holes to fill.

Everyone realizes that we have not seen him play a game yet and he averaged 4.3 yards per carry in the preseason right?

Sweet. He can tell before he even suits up for a regular season game. This dude needs to be a scout right this second...

We're going to need DT come November, December when the weather isn't so pleasant and running the ball is the only way to go sometimes.

All Baldi has done is give some an outlet to say they told you so or this regime reached for another player.

What did they see in this running back to give up 3 picks to move up and get him? So pathetic..we couldve drafted 3 more players...its not like we are a player away from being contenders...

Let's remember he was a QB in 2009 so he is still learning the running back position, what concerns me is this team does not have a "true" running back on it's roster besides LJ but I'm not even gonna go there, Reggie is a "specialty" back and he is injury prone and has never been known to run between the tackles, it's funny how our coaching staff and front office tout him being the "feature" back but when we get close to the goal-line he doesnt even sniff the rock because were scared he cant get those tough yards, well guess what thats not a feature back, we should of drafted ingram or signed bradshaw, it's funny how the front office wanted to get faster on offense and I applaud them for that but the they completely abandoned the running back position with the personnel moves they have made, we should of re-signed ricky or ronnie for insurance just in case something happens like somebody getting injured(thomas) and what if bush gets hurt? were stuck with d thomas and larry johnson awesome, I'm very concerned about our running game!

Yeah we struck out. Anybody else willing to give up on Mikel LeShoure's career because now he is "injury proned"... and give up on Mark Ingram because he "cant get one yard when the games on the line"...
GTFOH.

Wait until he has a body of work.... not before he's even touched the field to claim hit or miss. What a bunch of bologna.

i actually understand some of what baldingers talking about there...definitely...but i think he left out that he has sweet feet for a guy that size and pretty good vision and the ability to make a guy miss in tight spaces...
