Brian Xanders interviewing for GM job

The Broncos executed high-producing NFL Draft classes over the last three years, which finished #1 in the NFL in playtime and #2 in games started during 2010-12. There were nine primary starters from those draft classes, including three Pro Bowl players: LB Von Miller, WR Demaryius Thomas and OG Zane Beadles. The opening day roster of the 2013 Broncos had 18/25 starters from the draft classes from 2008-2012. There were also eight other Pro Bowl players who were acquired, signed or extended during his tenure: QB Peyton Manning (FA, 2012), SS Brian Dawkins (UFA, 2009–11), WR Brandon Lloyd (FA, 2009–11), RB Willis McGahee (FA, 2011), CB Champ Bailey (re-signed, 2011), DE Elvis Dumervil (re-signed, 2010), WR Brandon Marshall (re-signed, 2010), and OT Ryan Clady (1st round, 2008).

Relax. Xanders will most likely be at the Senior Bowl with the Lions.

Xanders has direct experience with player evaluations over the last 16 drafts. That's very encouraging.
 
There's a name I wasnt expecting. Dont know much about him yet....

We will have our scouts at the senior bowl. The GM we appoint will probably be there as well. I think that it's more important to make the right appointment than just speeding up the process. I am comfortable to wait a further week if it improves the quality of decision made. Hang in there Danny, let's try to be as patient as we can.
 
Ooh. Xanders is a really interesting candidate.

It's my understanding that he believes in a holistic approach of combining analytics + film + traditional scouting.

He also brought a lot of good talent to that Broncos team (they won a playoff game with Tim freaking Tebow at QB).

I would love this hire if we can get him.
 
The more I read about Xanders it's hard not to get excited. The Broncos roster is 90% draft choices. Granted they have a great QB but they have a lot of talent on that team. He is deeply experienced in operations, scouting and personnel.

I am puzzled why he left his post as the GM there for a job in the Lions front office.
 
Hey maybe if they bring him in we can get a damn Nole drafted on this team...LOL
 
He left because Elway took over. He worked well with Elway for little over a year until Elway got up to speed, but then they did not need him there any longer. So the Lions snatched to improve their staff. Team player, not an ego guy, and will go for a playmaker, a la Demaryius Thomas.
 
If he is the hire, he is going to get crucified on this site for the Tebow pick in the first round. Even though I think it's pretty well documented that that was all McDaniels.

Xanders have mixed results in draft. Took Moreno and Tebow in first, but also got Demaryius Thomas with 22nd pick & Eric Decker in 2nd round
