What a great start to the off-season it would be if we could land Xanders as GM and Kubiak as OC. Here are some notable players drafted by Brian Xanders: RB Knowshon Moreno, DE Robert Ayers, WR Demaryius Thomas, LG Zane Beadles, WR Eric Decker, OLB Von Miller, RT Orlando Franklin, TE Julius Thomas, DE Derek Wolfe, LB Danny Trevathan. Also signed NB Chris Harris as UDFA. Yes he was a part of drafting Tim Tebow (although that was ALL McDaniels) he did sign Peyton Manning. And yes Elway should get most, if not all the credit for convincing Peyton to come to Denver. But, Xanders built the talented team that Peyton wanted to play for, and had the cap space to sign him to a huge deal. It shouldn't matter anyway because we are set for the next decade with Tannehill. Also, his work last year in Detroit was nothing short of remarkable. As #2 in Detroit's front office it's hard to determine how much credit he should get for these moves, but the Lions picked up DE Ziggy Ansah, RG Larry Warford, and UDFA's TE Joseph Fauria and RT LaAdrian Waddle. Warford was clearly the best rookie offensive lineman last year.. was drafted in the 3rd round. As for Fauria and Waddle, last time I checked PFF Fauria was #9 TE while Waddle was top 20 OT (they combine left and right tackles into one group). As for Kubiak, he fits the scheme Phiblin is looking to hire as a west coast guy. And he got Brian Griese, Jake Plummer, and Matt Schaub to the pro-bowl. Nuff said.

Worth noting that the Lions OL got a lot better this year with Xanders in the room. Just. Saying.

If we could bring these two guys into our organization I'll be very, very happy. They both have an actual body of work you can point at and say "They made their teams better."

not sure about Kubiak he will probably leave after 1 year, and then Tannehill will have his 3rd OC in 3 years......not really a fan of that.

I don't know why people are making this assumption. It's entirely possible that he is now looked at akin to Norv Turner, or that teams will be scared away by health concerns.

Consider that right now, the Lions just hired JIM FREAKING CALDWELL instead of him, and that the Browns are looking at the guy who pretends to be Peyton Manning's OC.

He helped set up the right side of Detroit's OL for years. Warford is a future all-pro (3rd round pick) and Waddle looks to have pro bowl upside as an Undrafted Free agent. At the very least he has the looks of a good starting RT.

After reading the statement Ross made about the GM, no one fits the bill like Xanders.. Experience evaluating and selecting talent (GM with Broncos, successful 1st year in Detroit).. collaborative team player that puts the organization first (worked with McDaniels AND Elway while Elway was trying to steal his power).. and must be open-minded and creative (uses analytics but doesn't rely on them rather uses them to supplement to game film )

maybe he didnt want to go to Detriot? he has a lot of handcuffs forced on him there with Stafford and Suh.

r u forgetting Whisenhunt didnt even want to interview there also? and declined the private plane they had for him to fly to Detriot for a interview?

i am not saying the NFL but he also might be interested in coaching college.

Maybe it is attractive to Kubiak. He could be our head coach after year 1 if Ross tires of Philbin !!!!
