Right now we have a gadget RB (Bush) and a Rookie (Daniel Thomas). I dont trust thomas he runs upright, makes slow cuts and isnt as powerful as his size would indicate. He is being hyped up more by us and wasnt considered a great prospect coming out. I am not saying he wont be good but he is definitley not a guarentee. We need to sign Ricky Williams to a one or two year deal so we have that guy who we know can carry the ball at least 200 times in the season. He averaged 4.2 yards a carry last year and still is a good back. I dont think there will be a high demand for aa 34 year old runningback and we should just resign him.

I'd be for this move. Use him for short yardage situations. Give him around 10 rushes a game.

He'd be great insurance in the event that Thomas really is the greatest fumbler since Garo Yepremian. :chuckle:

ricky doesn't want to be here or at least he knows he warmed out his welcome
id welcome him back but sparano sees ricky as a traitor for speaking the obvious..

I think that if and when either Ricky or Ronnie is signed, it will be our last signing, signaling that our offseason is over. I wouldnt mind Ricky coming back, but we do have a good amount of RB's as it is, Thomas, Bush, Sheets, Hilliard and Grigsby. Depending on what we see from the last three guys on that list, bringing back Ricky might be unnecessary.

idk why everyone wants a proven running back. they cost alot, and typically a rookie can come in and do quite well in everythign except passblocking.

Ricky would be great cheap insurance because if thomas goes down we are screwed

You just made my point for me. WE dont have one runningback that we can count on at all. At least with Ricky you know you can get 10-15 carries a game, a catch or two and he will average about 4 a carry. Just because we have alot of RBs doesnt mean any of them are good. Bush will be a bust for us, Thomas isnt good at all, sheets is an injury waiting to happen, hilliard looks like he is running in quicksand.

I've been hoping we would bring him back to use with Thomas and Bush. I think Thomas is a good replacement for Ronnie Brown, but we could still use a vet back there like Ricky.
