CBS Sports NFL writer Will Brinson joined the Hochman, Crowder and Krantz show on 560 WQAM to discuss his rating the Dolphins fan base as the 2nd worst in the league and what Ryan Tannehill needs to do to be successful this season. He also talks about what the Dolphins need to do to make the playoffs and removing a hornet’s nest from his house.

“I think the Dolphins have enough on offense to get by with Ryan Tannehill being average. That defense needs to get better. This seems to be a defense distinctively revolving around personnel. I think there is enough talent on that defense to take that next step forward.”
On his way of judging fans: “It’s a tough metric to [judge], it’s so easy to be a Patriots fan.”
On Dolphins fans: “I think if Tannehill has the season I think he will have, [then] the Dolphins can make a run at the playoffs. If they can do that, then it’ll be easier to say that this fan base is passionate.”

I'm just hoping we don't end up in last place again

We won't. I have a feeling it'll be Buffalo. Looks like injuries are hitting them and I suspect teams will be able to plan against Taylor more this season.

we've been close in the past....have had legitimate chances and we've blown em, so I don't think it's a far reach to argue we have a chance to make a run at the playoffs this year....let's hope our team can hold up if we get that opportunity again.

I'm positive that we will. The fact that Gase wants to run the same short pass based offense as Philbin/Lazor ran using mostly the same o-line that couldn't block under Philbin tells me that Miami could possibly go 0-6 or 1-5 in their Division. While Joseph is PROBABLY (possibly?) an upgrade over Coyle, any style of offense similar to what Philbin/Lazor ran will be the downfall of this team. It will be like every other year; Tannehill will get his yards by dinking-and-dunking up and down the field, but the lack of a strong running game (due to no strong o-line blocking) and poor pass protection (again) will keep them from sustaining drives in crunch time when games are on the line. The only positive I can imagine is that maybe the defense won't choke under Joseph at the end of games like under Coyle, but this positive is neutralized by the huge negative of Gase running another pathetic short pass based offense.

There's nothing positive happening in Buffalo right now, but they are still a bad matchup for Miami. They have the look of the Dolphins teams coached by Sparano; big, imposing, lots of defense and running game, but they still end up 7-9.

Man unfortunately I don't have a good feeling about this season. I hope Im wrong. Maybe low expectations will be good for us as fans :/

We'll see. Weeks 1 and 2 will give us an idea pretty quickly. Lose in Seattle and the NE is almost a must win due to Brady being out.

Are you saying all offenses are the same?

So, because Gase is utilizing the short passing game it's the same offense as last year?
Please tell me you're a defensive coordinator for someone on our schedule!

IMO, yes; but mostly because Gase is going to be relying on most of the same o-linemen that couldn't block last year to block for him this year. They may look competent for a few plays here and there, but don't be fooled... they suck. If Gase wants to keep his QB upright and move the ball, no o-lineman who started last year should be starting this year.

Bushrod and Tunsil will be the starting guards week 1. Albert, Pouncey, and James were not the real problem last season - all 3 are more than serviceable.

There is hope.

Health will be everything to this team, especially at LB.

If we had a phenomenal year as far injuries, we could win it all.

There are a lot of former playoff teams that have had their depth decimated by free agency. If we stay healthy and they don't....sky is the limit.
