The Dolphins are making it perfectly clear that they have interest in Gurley. too clear. The Dolphins sit in a fluid position and will use the Gurley selection to determine their picks in the first few rounds. I think the Dolphins have the following players highly rated and will be content selecting them all in round 1. I believe the following scenarios will happen all based upon Gurley's selection.
IF Gurley is selected in the top 10:
and Kevin White falls to 9:
Dolphins trade up for Kevin White
or
Devante Parker falls to 10:
Dolphins trade up for DeVante Parker
or
stay put and take CB, Parker, or Breshad Perriman CB at 14
IF Gurley is on the board at 14:
and the Dolphins get good offer(s) for Gurley:
Dolphins trade back and take
Marcus Peters
or
Breshad Perriman
or
Eric Kendricks
If the Dolphins do not get the value they want:
select Todd Gurley
This isn't a revelation, by any means. I do believe that in a best case scenario Miami is looking to trade the Gurley pick to a desperate team and take the top rated WR, CB, or ILB remaining on their board. A wildcard would be if Todd Gurley goes in the top 10 or if DeVante Parker slips to 14. I think I also think that Kevin White falling to 9 could make them think hard and long about going up and getting him.
IMO, The worst case scenario (and still a great one) is Gurley sitting at 14 and no appealing trade offers on the board. In that case, we still might win big with a homerun back.
No matter how the cards fall, I think we'll all be happy come Thursday night.
