The Dolphins are making it perfectly clear that they have interest in Gurley. too clear. The Dolphins sit in a fluid position and will use the Gurley selection to determine their picks in the first few rounds. I think the Dolphins have the following players highly rated and will be content selecting them all in round 1. I believe the following scenarios will happen all based upon Gurley's selection.

IF Gurley is selected in the top 10:
and Kevin White falls to 9:

Dolphins trade up for Kevin White
or

Devante Parker falls to 10:

Dolphins trade up for DeVante Parker
or
stay put and take CB, Parker, or Breshad Perriman CB at 14

IF Gurley is on the board at 14:
and the Dolphins get good offer(s) for Gurley:

Dolphins trade back and take
Marcus Peters
or
Breshad Perriman
or
Eric Kendricks

If the Dolphins do not get the value they want:
select Todd Gurley

This isn't a revelation, by any means. I do believe that in a best case scenario Miami is looking to trade the Gurley pick to a desperate team and take the top rated WR, CB, or ILB remaining on their board. A wildcard would be if Todd Gurley goes in the top 10 or if DeVante Parker slips to 14. I think I also think that Kevin White falling to 9 could make them think hard and long about going up and getting him.

IMO, The worst case scenario (and still a great one) is Gurley sitting at 14 and no appealing trade offers on the board. In that case, we still might win big with a homerun back.
No matter how the cards fall, I think we'll all be happy come Thursday night.

Fins Up.

In this case any scenario looks nice, even worst case.

I doubt we'll be taking Peters he's just too high a risk character wise to take in the first . If you're going to take a risk on character like that might as well take DGB who has the potential to be a great great receiver , I don't see us taking either . Kevin Johnson seems more likely than peters that's for sure

I'm just glad Jeff Ireland isn't around to destroy all the damn cards...

Yeah I could see that. I was speaking more about strategy than who they have rated where. Always end up surprised in the end. I just think they are wisely using Gurley as leverage to get whoever they really want.

A few of us have been on this for like a month - this isn't rocket science - the media is being used tirelessly for the past 30 days - clearly the brass wants a trade back

I know everyone says "we're getting Gurley" but he hasn't even been in for a visit, isn't that correct? Unless some super secret meeting took place, we aren't getting Gurley. Don't you think Fins' staff would want to get to know a potential "game changer" first round RB? I can see us using him as trade bait though. Nice breakdown OP!

I too think Miami's first priority is to trade down and still grab a Corner or Receiver. I also think they'd be more than
happy to just sit at 14 and hope Parker or Gurley fall into their laps. I'm not sure they have real interest in moving up. Especially with their lack of a 3rd rounder. Having only 1 pick in the first 2 days doesn't sound ideal for a team with quite a few holes to fill

I don't believe the dolphins will take either Peters or Kendricks

Ozzy rules!!

I agree with the OP, I think they have the balls to move up even with no third but hopes are that someone high on their board will fall without moving. IMO a trade back won't be in play due to no significant offer

i don't see all these holes everyone keeps talking about
i think we are in pretty good shape just as we are and i think the draft is just icing on the cake

Praying Shelton falls to 14. With Shelton and Suh clogging the middle, even Misi would look like an All Pro and our interior line would be set for 5 years. Too many good receivers in the latter rounds to take one with the 14th pick unless it's White or Cooper. Even a kid like Diggs from Maryland in the fourth round could be a star.

If some how we pick Gurley. Why in the world do we trade that pick for lower picks, and give some other team a great player,,, Lets make us better not other teams..
