Brooks and Brewer All Pro's

Congrats to both of them. I love these tough players.

No reflection on them ... Dolphins ONLY All Pros are both Free Agent signings (needing new expensive contracts) that show how big of a Shat-Stain-Show Ross' running. He stuck with all his losers waaaay too long & most of the fans supported those losers ... Whaaasssssup???

Hope springs eternal & we shall see ... just hope we don't suffer more losers for a handful of years. Ross seems to have the Midas Touch in REVERSE!?!?

I don't hate Ross ... HE MADE ME detest HIM ... I mean, 15 years of Shat-Stain Monkey Stank!! ... Whaaasssssup???

You pointed out his weakness I was merely was ponting out his strengths Sounds good, I guess I should've just pointed out that he is the best Center in the NFL at running the outside zone rather than mentioning other teams that have a lot of success running it as well.

Like I said, NBD. Not worth arguing about.

You guys should argue some more!!

Big Brewer fan but he absolutely does not need to be extended in Muami he will not be successful in anything other than outside zone. People who say he is soft or finesse are ignorant. He is a tough man, with bad intentions. But he is limited by his size and not worth the cost.
That's fine but he said teams attacked Brewer 95% of the time. I wanna see that. I'm almost positive that's no where near an accurate number. At least for the pressures.

I know savi let up a lot of pressure but I'm pretty sure the right side of the line was a bigger liability and gave up more pressure. That being said, I do not like savi, he needs to be replaced

Don’t get me started on that ingold contract extension. Dude was less than a year removed from being out of football and we controlled for multiple years still and we gave him 3 and 17 mil.

Moronic.
**** Chris Grier by the way.

I like Brewer a lot, really good leader. He is one of those smurfs when considering the position he plays as well though.
Agreed, but usually you can get away with a smaller guy at center especially with his quickness and strength. The question will be the system we will use, if its some kind power gap derivative then we will need to move on quickly.

You are absolutely correct in regards the system. Tyler Lindebaum is the only Center thats close to being as short as Brewer he is 6'2", Brewer is 6'1".

Prove it 95% of the time... I'd be willing to bet that's not where the pressure came from this year.
Do you watch games? Did you see how many pressures Jonah allowed? What gap do you think teams attacked; the one between him and Paul or the one between him and Brewer? The quickest path to the QB is inside.

Look who Brewer actually blocks in pass pro. It’s almost never an IDL solo. He picks up LB pressure or helps with a double team block. Teams figured that out early and used it to have IDL line up on Jonah’s right inside shoulder and shoot the gap.
Watch the Steelers game. Cam Hayward had a free path to the QB all game because he played inside tech and Brewer was continuously looking the opposite direction. For all intents and purposes Jonah was basically left on an island in pass pro all year (which seems like a poor coaching decision).

Brewer is an excellent run blocker in a wide zone scheme. He is the best IOL in the NFL at getting to the next level. His size and lack of strength are big issues against IDL that line up directly over him or in the A gaps in both the run and pass game.

All I know is brooks is legit. Best line backer we had since zt. He needs extension. He isn’t soft. He is leader. He is tough. He makes tackles behind line of scrimmage. He never misses tackles. Glad he got all pro. He got one year left. We might lose him. But he is tough and we need more players like him

Yes, but he's not a guy that's going to hold his spot against double teams or even a big, strong 0 tech.

Well deserving of the All Pro selection, though.

Him and Brooks are prime examples of why Pro Bowl selections are a meaningless joke.
I'm not really sure what you are saying. They don't ask centers to block two DLs at the same time. Are you saying 2 DLs double-team a center? They are part of a double team with a guard against a big, strong IDL. Before he came to Miami, he did fine in Tennessee's scheme. He's not 274 anymore. Hasn't been for a few years. He's more like 295-300. Not much different than most centers. Less than 10 lbs separate him from Jurgens, Dalman, Linderbaum, and Humphrey, for example. He is short, but that does not mean small. He is as strong as any of those guys and has quickness and leverage in line.

Wasn't RG his natural position in college? If so, I'd try him there before Center. In any event, at this point with the new regime it really doesn't matter when or where someone was drafted. Every single player is now going to need to prove themselves to the new HC. He'll then determine whether they are potential starters, backups, developmental players, or hit-the-road-jack players. I don't think they will care one iota the round someone was drafted in. They don't have that hanging over their heads as that was Grier and McMoron's legacy.
Brewer played every OL position in college. As a senior, they had him at RT every game, and he was Texas State's best player. As a junior, he started half his games at LT and half his games at C. As a soph he split his starts between C, RG, and LT. As a frosh, it was LG and C.
Brewer is not as scheme-limited, IMO, as some seem to think. He is best in a zone scheme, but even the McD scheme wasn't zone every play. Roughly 40% of Brewer's run blocking snaps were gap blocking, not zone. His PFF grades were very high in both. Slightly higher when gap blocking.

Can't argue with that. He played left guard, right guard, and Center in Tennessee so I was having hope that he has finally found his spot. But he had not been good in pass pro no matter where he has been. That being said I absolutely let him play out the last year of his contract unless we can trade him.
Brewer is someone you extend. Not trade him or let him play out his contract.

Regardless, he was not good in whatever the scheme was that the Titans ran while he was there. In Miami's scheme it was like night and day. That cant be denied.

He was good at C for Tennessee. Not great. He's been great with the Dolphins. After we signed him, I went back and watched his 2023 Tenn games at C, and they got me excited for what he could bring to the Dolphins.

Pro bowl is a joke being all-pro is much more important. Goes to show you how stupid pro bowl selections are when a 1st team all-pro doesnt get selected.

What if we don't run primarily outside zone and the new Coach is power, gap scheme guy?
Aaron is the ninth highest paid center in the league right now, after having all pro year , he's going to be a top 3 center, you can't get that type of decision wrong, especially for a guy that may not be a scheme fit..
