Less than three hours after arriving at Cleveland's headquarters Wednesday to apparently finalize his contract, the rookie wide receiver and his agent bolted after negotiations with the Browns broke down.

At the time, the Browns were working out in the club's indoor facility, pushed inside by an afternoon thunderstorm.

About 30 minutes before Edwards' arrival, Smith showed up to presumably work through some final details of a contract he had been optimistic about completing 10 days ago.

But whatever Smith and Edwards learned during their short stay, they must not have liked.

this sucks. i hope the browns and edwards can resolve the issues they have fast cause brown needs to get his *** into camp and starting interacting with the offense.

Hey PC, in your sources and all have you heard any information about what's going on?

First round draft choices are usually slotted when it comes to a contract. That way #1 makes more than #2 and #2 makes more than #3 and so on. Brown is number 2 and Edwards 3. Thus, edwards signing would facilitate the Brown signing.

Right, with the guaranteed money Edwards was supposed to have gotten it looked like Brown was going to have to get about 21.5 mill.

Which is almost exactly what he was looking for($22 mil). Brown wants the kind of deal that every pick around him seems to be getting, but for some reasons the Fins won't dish it out. I can't blame him for wanting fair market value, even if it is higher than in years past.

So edwards did NOT sign???

Right, he walked out of the complex sans signature on the contract the Browns were offering. I don't really know what that Personel Services clause he wasn't happy with is though. It seems unsual at best to arrive there to sign not knowing the full details of the contract.

Wow this confusing. Apparantly not. The good news is it doesn't seem to be money, but something in the personal service clause. Hopefully we can still use the financial terms of the near deal to get Ronnie's contract done.

WOW CONFUSED!! lol ok if its not the money then we should be ok. I just want to see this deal done and put it behind us already. I think i could have been Ronnie's agent on this one!!
