Ok i have been watching clips and sports shows and reading mags and everyone says that the Browns are in a win now situation. So if they are in a win now situation they dont have enough talent on they're team to take a rookie QB and wait on him to be ready, yes Quinn is the most NFL ready BUT he still has to learn more.

I thnik the guy has a valid point. I have heard around and their coach is starting to feel the heat. I hope he is right and Quinn falls to us some how.

one thing to consider though is that the Brown's selection will be heavily if not soley influenced by their ownership and not the current coaching staff. If ownership wants to bring in the "hometown" kid to Cleveland, they'll do it regardless of the current coach.

:yes:

The Browns currently have awful QB's. Quinn is a very good, NFL ready prospect. You're telling me that Quinn wouldn't be an instant upgrade over Charlie Frye? Adding Quinn would probably do just as much to get them in a win-now mode than drafting Peterson or Thomas would. The browns definitely CAN draft Quinn if Phil Savage wants to.

And primarily because you don't want them to pick Quinn.

Well, I was just looking at ESPN Insider rumor central and this is what they had to say about this particular situation.

Browns prefer Peterson?
<Apr. 20>
"Even though he knows the value of taking Columbus native Brady Quinn, Browns owner Randy Lerner won't interfere with GM Phil Savage's thinking process regarding the No. 3 pick, writes John Clayton.

Savage appears to be leaning toward halfback Adrian Peterson over tackle Joe Thomas, but there is still no sense of what would happen if quarterback JaMarcus Russell falls to No. 3. Savage is a big fan of Russell."

So basically the ownership is going to put Crenell & Savage in a "No Win" situation. "Win Now!" Draft this player who most likely is NOT ready to "Win Now."

If the ownership is smart (which we know most are not), they'll let the football people do their job, make their bed so to speak, and fire them at the end of the season if it doesn't work out.

Obviously the Browines best chance to "Win Now" is to continue to develop Frye & draft Adrian Peterson, that way they have something to build on for next year, even if they just miss the playoffs this year & fire them both, they are still better off as a franchise than if they just draft Quinn. That is unless of course Quinn CAN start from day one.

They should have just fired them after last season.....

Romeo is definately on the hot seat in Cleveland. While Quinn is far better than any player on the roster RB is the easiest position to get production out of from a rookie. So if you need to win now then you take the RB, if you are re-building a team you take the QB. I can understand the Browns perspective, they have Frye who has had the chance to play a little bit and should make improvements over last year. Now give him a very talented RB to take some pressure off him.

If I were Phil Savage, I would want to use that #3 pick one someone who's a "safe" pick, but yet has a lot of upside. Spending a high draft pick on a QB is very risky. Cleveland has so many needs; they can't afford to come away with nothing if Quinn doesen't live up to expectations. To me, Adrian Peterson is a more sensible pick for Cleveland at #3. Of course, I'm biased because I want Quinn to fall to us.

I personally like Quinn, but I've heard many conflicting opinions as to how successful he will be in the NFL. I think the team he goes to will have a lot to do with how successful he is. Cleveland has a lot of holes and needs to start showing improvement soon, or else Savage and Crennels' days will be numbered. If you're Phil Savage, you've got to be concerned about the risk factor if you pick Quinn.

peterson will be the browns pick you can slam dunk it take it to the bank!

This is what i have been hearing as well. If ownership wants a high profile ticket seller like Quinn then the browns will select Quinn. If they are a little softer on the issue the coaches and gm may be able to go after an imediate impact player like Peterson, IMO.
