I just wanted to know more info on this guy, i know he was injured all last year because of a neck injury....but do you guys think he can still play at a high level? Can he play other positions other than center..? etc....thanks for any input.

He never played at a high level to begin with. He is too small and gets bull rushed easily....he's a back up at best.....of course thats just my opinion.

he sweats on the ball before the snap.
other than that hes a C-G type player

To put it blunt, and simple. If you were giving him a realistic Madden 07 rating, he'd be about a 65.

McKinney really isn't a starter. He is back up material. As someone mentioned, he is very weak at the point of attack. He is not that strong, and uses poor leverage. You will not be able to run up the middle behind this guy when you play teams with strong inside tackles/nose guards. We won't miss him. Hopefully, he gets his name on that HGH to get stronger, otherwise, you guys got yourself a standard backup center/guard.

I think Seth is decent. He will start some games in this league again.

He did have an issue with fumbling snaps but with him not playing in the Miami heat and humidity this should not be a problem anymore

McKinney will be alright. He's still young. Our running game was a whole lot better in 2005 when McKinney was playing. We even had the fantastic Wade Smith playing tackle. He's okay in the run game but will get bull rushed in pass protection but I think he'll get better if he stays healthy and get settled in one position.

2005 was his best season. He ranked as an average(#15) run-blocking center that year. His sacks were very low.

Prior to 2005:
McKinney was a crappy starter or a great backup. He can play guard as well. He was getting pushed backwards 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage on every play, but he wasn't giving up sacks.

Then again, if your QB has to backup an additional 2 yards on every play (no pocket to step up in), that may be enough of an advantage for a quick DE to run around your offensive tackles.

*********
McKinney is an unknown because of injury problems. However, the remaining center free agents stink.

Thanks for your input, im sure you really contribute on these boards....:rolleyes2

We've got lots of "quality" posters on these boards; if you hang around long enough you'll get used to them.

Anway, about McKinney:

The guy really only has two years of experience under his belt. One was on one of the worst Dolphins teams in history with no coaching or direction whatsoever. The 2004 line was awful altogether and really only McKinney and James were at all consistent. The rest of the line was pretty bad on a consistent basis, and I'm sure they all looked bad.

In 2005, he showed what he could do. I happen to think Houck is a good line coach, and he probably got a good amount of performance out of McKinney that he didn't even know he had. McKinney is big for a center, but surprisingly fast - if he gets out in front as a lead blocker, he'll take out at least one guy. I think his biggest problem in the past was the way he balanced himself (or rather didn't). With a more even weight distribution, he became a good run blocker and a good pass protector. He's not a superstar, but he's a capable center.

I agree with Flintsilver's synopsis. McKinney isn't as bad as some make him out to be. He's an overacheiver that doesn't have the skills to become a dominate C or G in the league but he's scrappy enough to play at a consistently good level.
