many people had a similar reaction to the hiring of the browns OC. WTF were the fins thinking..but after reading many reports that Daboll has the fins offense looking more spread and complex, I can't help but get excited...
Has anyone watched a number of browns games last year to give me an idea of what the browns offense looked like last year.. To be fair, I realize they didn't have many weapons.

YouTube 2011 Browns highlights, especially the patsie game. They didn't have half the talent we have this year so just imagine. He's creative and will scheme against opponents weaknesses unlike our previous D-Coordinator(s) ;-)

My 3rd Grade P.E. Coach Mr Powell would be an upgrade over Henning!

Yea letsd not act like he was the only C who had lower tier talent. I would say the broncos had less overall offenisve talent outside of qb and were a very good offensive team compared to talent. So Daboll had like the lowest level talent and got the ;owest level results what a friggin genius. Definately think there were coordinators that got more out of thier talent than him

Get out of fantasy football land for a second. The Broncos offense as a whole was not very good last season. Who exactly would you have recommended as a replacement for Henning since I'm sure the market for a good coordinator was just flourishing. Daboll has shown so far in camp that his style is really what the fans have been calling for.

fantasy football land yea ok. Only in your fantasy was the cleveland browns offense better than the Broncos. Nobody would agree with u on that well nobody that actually pays attention to football. I dont remember anybody having a problem with henning in camp lol but in actual games is what counts. I personally would have preferred josh mcdanials since he has shown he knows how to run an offense but im sure his history with marshall hurt that situation.

The Browns are one of the teams I try to follow when I can. Personnel was definately an issue for them as Masoquai was their primary threat at wideout, followed immediately by Chancey Stuckey. Offensive scheme relies heavily on a back that has pass catching ability out of the backfield (ala Reggie Bush) and a big thumper that can get 3 to 4 yards in the middle. Quarterback play is critical and needs to be able to move out of the pocket to buy time for the progression routes unless the Oline is stout. Pass catching TE is a must. He did a pretty solid job in Cleveland.

Orton sucked/sucks. To isolate him as an innocent victim of his team's ineptitude rather than contributing to it, resonates about as much as holding Beck blameless in 07 or Henning in 10. Orton padded his stats while still maintaining his impressive 60.8% 3rd down career QB rating. He threw more TDS/Less Ints than rookie Colt McCoy, but when the smoke cleared last season, he still had a worse completion percentage and marginally worse winning percentage, while at 79.6, his QBR was only 5pts better than McCoy's (or Henne's for that matter). I don't think there's a GM in the league who'd take a mediocre Orton with his already established ceiling over McCoy's upside at this point. The proof of the pudding is that while loads such as present day McNabb, and Tavaris Jackson, and big question marks like Kolb were traded for, we were the only suckers lining up to wheel and deal with Elway. What does that tell you?

The funniest part of all this is the fact that Elway has to go out and defend the best quarterback on his team for having the starting job to the fanbase. Tebow absolutely sucks it up in practice everyday, meanwhile Orton goes about his business being "Ranger Rick" in practice... performing with no pressure.

Of course, none of this is Elway's doing in the first place, he was hired to un-do all this mess... but it's still pretty hilarious. Elway actually has to explain to the fanbase out there booing Orton everyday (despite CLEARLY being the best quarterback on the Broncos roster) that Kyle isn't Tebow's enemy...

The legend of Tim Tebow knows no bounds...

I will ask and Im sure u wont answer what does that have to do with my post that Denver's offense was better than Cleveland's offense and if Orton sucks as u say that only compounds my point. U do realize though that orton had a 87 qb rating last year and every year in the league his rating has gotten better. U may not like orton but if Orton sucks then Chad henne at this point should have a word created for him since suck would not even apply. I mean who cares if Orton had number one receiver who up to that point had never had a season of 50 receptions and a grand total of 15 tds in 7 seasons but had a pro bowl season with orton as qb and 11 tds. Im sure that had nothing to do with his qb play because he sucks lol. I mean who cares that Denver had among the worst rushing offenses last season and the league's worst defense its all about orton sucking lol. I mean good qb's never have losing seasons even though this was Orton's first losing record ever as a starting qb. So I guess until last year he was a good qb since he had a 29-19 record before last season and still has a 32-29 record. From 86 to 91 marino had a pretty similar record but of course that made marino a less than stellar qb. Now before u go there im not saying Orton is marino far from it but u keep citing last seasons record when trying to say Orton sucks so Im just using their records since u seem to think thats all that counts as a qb. I also guess Miami was quite right to pass on drew Brees because at the time he only had a 30-28 record. The total team has nothing to do with team record just the sucky qb lol. I never said orton was a franchise qb but that would be silly but no more silly than u saying he is bad qb.

i also dont get this myth u have created that being on a bad team somehow helps create better stats. I think if u study the best qb and worst qb stats they would generally fall in line with the better ones on good teams and the worse ones on bad teams. I mean by your logic matt Moore and Clauson should have been among the league leaders and in 2007 we should have had great qb stats.

They laugh at Orton on the Broncos sites as consistently coming off a practice warrior but a crunchtime choker.

As far as being the best QB on that team, it's not much different than declaring the chick on the right as the "most svelte" :idk:

you do understand don't you that for 3 years with Chicago, a better, better team he had a 71% QBR??? Again, apparently the QB hungry GMs and 90% of the avid fans who watch his every play think he sucks.. but you're entitled to your opinion (which would be just as valid as a Denver fan telling you that Henne is better based on his observations)

No one is of the opinion that henne is better than orton except maybe u. U do realize that because something though is a popular opinion does not make something a fact. When Brees was with the Chargers did any team make a trade when he was in his last year of contract and could have been had for the right price Im sure Gm's were quite qb hungry that year also. Hell we traded a second for AJ Feeley does that mean he was a better option than orton because a team traded for him. People dont get traded for a variety of reasons , maybe Denver's asking price is too high maybe orton wants too much in contract. For all the drama orton has went through he will probbaly still be the starting qb for the Denver broncos once again.

you're essentially taking the other side of the Wake argument I took you to task for the other day: where you generalized that CFL players can't make the transition..but here you're saying that popular opinion or W/L generalizations be damned, there are extenuating circumstances. You are form fitting your arguments to fit the position you've dug into. We can go round and round but I'll end my part by saying that when a SB QB wanted to unload Orton, as did 90% of the rabid fan base who call him "3 and out Orton" and no other teams taking an interest in him, you're welcome to your opinion but that's all it is. And just like you're in the minority around here, I have seen more than a few "trade Orton for Henne" posts on the Broncos boards FWIW. Oh as far as him starting, see my post #11.. everything is relative. Clearly you're not gonna convince me, let alone the 90% of Broncos fans who'd prefer him gone so as the saying goes: "Seacrest out"

i could care less about being in minority anywhere because as I said popular opinion does not make anything a fact. I will still stick by the CFL is full of inferior players that couldnt cut it in the NFL and every year that gets proven over and over. Are there exceptions to the rule yes and Wake is a huge exception to the rule. Every year there may be 5 CFL players that could even make an NFL team much less start or excel for them. At one point Cameron Wake was in that group and was even not playing football at all. I never siad Cameron Wake could not play in the NFL but I will admit I said its doubtful he will excel. This is a story that in the entire history of the NFL it may be the only one of its kind if he keeps up the good play he has exhibited. So yea i was wrong about one of the most unlikely occurances ever in NFL history yea how ill informed of me.

The majority of Denver fans wore Tebow jerseys to practice but yet an actual NFL coach is gonna play the less popular but easily better player. Hell how many years on this board has the popular opinion been that Brown will be one fo the best backs in the NFL and he never even broke the top twelve in rushing in any single year.
