Cary Edmondson/US PresswireDoug Martin will be out for the rest of the season after the Bucs placed him on injured reserve Friday.
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed running back Doug Martin on injured reserve, the team announced Friday. Martin missed the last two games after injuring his shoulder while attempting to catch a pass in an Oct. 20 game against Atlanta. Martin and the Bucs had hoped he could return and put off surgery until after the season.
Ultimately, the Bucs decided to shut down Martin for the rest of the season.
Rookie Mike James has stepped into Martin's place in the starting lineup. In the first six games, Martin carried 127 times for 456 yards and a touchdown.

This week's Monday Night Football game features an all Florida contest between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Miami Dolphins. Both teams issued their first injury reports of the week last night.

For the Dolphins, tackle Jonathan Martin has been ruled out of the game as he stays away from the franchise during the allegations of misconduct he has leveled toward guard Richie Incognito. Linebackers Jelani Jenkins (foot) and Koa Misi (knee) both did not practice on Thursday, while cornerback Dimitri Patterson (groin), tight end Dion Sims (toe), and kicker Caleb Sturgis (right groin) were all limited.

The team also listed cornerback Nolan Carroll (concussion), safety Chris Clemons (hamstring), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (calf), and guard Nate Garner (knee) on the report, but all were full participants on the day.

As for the Buccaneers, they listed running back Doug Martin (shoulder), guard Carl Nicks (foot), and wide receiver Chris Owusu (foot) as limited in their Thursday workout, with safety Dashon Goldson (knee), cornerback Danny Gorrer (groin), and fullback Erik Lorig (toe) were limited.

Guard Davin Joseph (knee), linebacker Mason Foster (elbow), defensive tackle Akeem Spence (wrist), safety Keith Tandy (ankle), and linebacker Dekoda Watson were all full participants for the Buccaneers.

more mike James maybe its the canes fan in me but I think hes pretty good. in a limited/backup role however. hes no major threat like Martin would have been. time to stomp the bucs. that would be proof that we have leaders on this team

Bummer for me. He's on my fantasy team. I'm in a keeper league and grabbed him as a rookie. I drafted Lacy this year so I have two nice young backs going forward.

why move a thread about our opponent this week. that's extremely dolphins related, guess we need to make room for all these incognito martin threads. lets get back to football boys!

I understand the frustration as I could care less about reading more speculation on the Martin fiasco, but Martin wasn't really ever that likely to play to begin with.
