C.Baseball- TxState takes down #1 Rice!

In the bottom of ninth, Texas State found itself in a tough spot. The Owls were one out away from sending the game into extra innings. Senior outfielder Jared Bunn started the rally with a two-out single to right field. Next up was freshman designated hitter Paul Goldschmidt, who singled up the middle, advancing Bunn to second. With runners on first and second, redshirt freshman Laurn Randell was up to bat. The freshman stepped up big time and delivered a single to left field, scoring Bunn and winning the game.

May just seem like bragging about my school a little (which I am), but taking down the #1 team in the nation is a big deal, especially our moderatly small school. We do have a very up and coming program here though. Last year we beat the Univ. of Texas and this year #1 Rice. Time for a little respect to come the Bobcats way!

It's still strange for me to see them trying to change the culture of Southwest Texas State University. It's hard for me to call it Texas State because of how long I've lived in San Antonio.

I'm with you man. My dad works here so Southwest Texas was what I grew up with. It was still called that my freshman year. (That's right, I'm a Super Senior) Still, it's nice to see our sports programs getting some respect, though it has nothing to do with the name change.
