The Q&A section of PFW includes the following comment about Chris Long dropping out of the top five: "Bottom line: Chris Long does not show the burst to get to the quarterback off the edge on third downs, he is light and narrow-framed to play inside and he has little experience from a rush LB role. As a result, any 3-4 team that drafts him in the top 10 to be a 3-4 outside ’backer would be making a projection, which is usually a very scary proposition to make at any position in the draft’s top 10, given the investment that the selections require."
I only saw him in the Cavaliers game against my alma mater UNC, and if I remembered correctly he played well, had 1 sack and 1 Int.
Is there any truth in the comment above?
I read today that J. Ireland said they want players who can rush the passer. Is that the reason why the Phins' second candidate after J. Long is Gholston? (who BTW is described some questions below "as physically gifted as most any pass rusher in the NFL and represents the highest level of competition Jake Long will see in the pros.")
In the same section, there is an interesting read on why J.Long is not the next Gallery.
