Obviously don't want to see any injury as a positive, but I think this could be a good thing -- force the team to look at more kicking talent, get more competition going.
Sturgis really hasn't earned the right to remain the starter.
 
I feel like he has been injured since midway through his rookie year.
 
sucks for him. I do think he had a chance to be elite, and he's one player that would not surprise me if he goes somewhere else, gets healthy and is a top 5 guy. Its unfortunate that he won't be that guy for us. too many injuries and too inconsistant to continue relying on him. next man up!
 
That should about seal his fate. Not sure how I feel about that. I was hoping he'd lose his job because we found someone better. I hope we don't cut him and have him pull a Dan Carpenter on us.
 
Didn't he start the summer last yr with this same injury? Well hopefully we bring in some veteran competition this summer, Caleb has always scared me and I still don't like using a 5th rd draft choice on a kicker when we had a proven kicker on the roster, just because he had a couple of bad kicks....all kickers go through that.....there was more pressing needs on this team than kicker

lmao. To be fair with Wildbill, I did think Sturgis was pretty great when he first started. He was hitting everything and made ditching Carpenter look like a smart move.
I really don't know what happened to him once that slump started. Injuries, confidence, who knows... unless he comes out of it, he's looking like a potential star-turned-bust.

For those who asked, dolphins have not indicated if Sturgis will be ready for training camp. They say he will miss rest of offseason program
 
What's that kickers name from Blue Mountain State? Sign that ****er up I'm sure even though he only played a kicker he would be better.
