Call me crazy if you want…

No we can totally move off of Chubb and save like $20 million next year. At least this is what I’ve read. I am a big Chubb fan btw. But being that chop was a 1st rnd pick and we can save a lot of money means that this will happen.
You are right, you can if you designate him a post June 1st cut but you are still eating $9M in dead cap in 2025 and then some in 2026 and not really getting any relief until June.

Maybe, maybe not.

Might be that we don't resign Phillips.

Not saying that's my preference, but I think the picture will become much clearer after the season.

My take on these draft picks will focus on just one of them. And that one is Jaylen Wright.
I think, given the opportunity, Jaylen Wright will light up the NFL landscape!
I think that most people really don't understand how special he really is as an RB.
He is quick, has elite top-end speed, has the ability to make people miss from a one-cut jump, and he is a very physical player when he just feels like smashing you in the mouth!
He is also very good catching the ball out of the backfield and is easily the best blocking RB on this team.
I think and hope he plays a lot this year. Then everyone will see just how dynamic of a player he really is for the Miami Dolphins!
Guys, enjoy the show that he will bring this year!
My son reminded me that I said I would love to have him as one of our later picks. VOILA! I was stoked - I even picked him up in my FF league.

This video is more about his life before and during his time at UT, with not so much on the field flash, but well worth watching.

It all counts.
Of course it counts but June 1st cuts don't help you get cap compliant (unless you are thinking rollover for next season). I always think of them (probably wrongly) as desperation cuts as they don't really provide a great deal of relief in the year you are doing them and they still hurt for the next season as well.

In Chubbs case, designating him a June 1st cut saves you $20M after June but you are eating dead caps of $9M in 2025 and $18M in 2026, a year when you are already eating a $18M void year hit for Ramsey. That would be $36M in dead cap from 2 players and Armstead might also be dead cap in 2026 depending on when he retires and how they deal with it.

You could have stopped after those first 4 words! - LOL

I don’t necessarily consider that a positive. 5 of the remaining roster .. the first rounders… were drafted by another team.

Clearly, those other teams screwed up their "1st round" picks.
Don't you ever read what you have written? - LOL

I’ve read that we can create like $20 million if we release Chubb. But this is just what I’ve read I am no cap expert myself lol
We create $20M in 2025 cap space with $9M dead cap if we cut him post June 1st. The misleading part about that number is that we are still on the hook for his guaranteed money. We would have a dead cap hit for whatever bonuses and guaranteed money is left on his contract in 2026 as well. I don’t know the exact details of his contract but I’d guess it would be a much larger dead cap hit in 2026.
