Seeing that Camarillo just got a 3-year, $6M contract extension, what do you see his role being in 2009, 2010 & 2011?

If you assume he's still going to be our #2 WR, that basically means we will not upgrade our WRs in free agency or the draft.

However, if you think we will upgrade (draft and/or FA) our WRs, then basically you're saying that Camarillo will be a #3 WR in the long run (and Bess a #4WR).

Is $2M/year a fair contract for a solid #3 WR? I think so.

I think Ireland/Parcells sees Camarillo as our long-term #3 WR.

What do you think?

brings up a good insight into the future of our WR core. Unless they plan to trade Ginn, we aren't going to be making any moves in teh WR department. Clearly, they like Camarillo due to his contract. Many comments and articles have made it clear the front office really digs Bess as a slot machine. So, we really only have a 4th WR slot open unless they trade Ginn, which I really don't see happening as he is beginning to mature and make plays.

So, I think everyone can put the bed a future big time pickup via trade/free agency/draft in the WR department.

I still think we need a big reciever. London fits that bill, but he was'nt going to make an impact this season being signed late in pre-season. Hopefully next season he will come good as I pressume London will be kept and Wilford will be cut.

Would prefer to see Ginn and a tall athletic reciver being number two, with Cam and Bess being in the slot. But with the way Cam is playing I wont be disappointed if he is kept as number 2.

They gave more money to Wilford to ride the pine this year.....6 mil is pocket change in the NFL. A player with average abilities who works his *** off was rewarded....nothing more should be read into this. If hes the 5th WR next year and only contributes on special teams Parcells should still be content with the contract.

Really good point. With all the complaints people have had with our WR corps in the ofseason and early several games it relly seems to be firming up. This shows a big FO commitment to Camarillo. The only way he exists as a #3 WR at this point is if they decide a wide open aerial attack will be our primary mode of offense. With Sparano and BP it's a pretty sure bet that's not going to be the case.
That

Gregg will get paid and sign a contract for whatever he earns for himself. Since he was not drafted he will have to fight for every penny he makes. There is nothing saying he cant be a #2 or even a #1 if he can play at that level. Right now he is not at that point. Time will tell.

Even if we draft a WR early next year, i could still see Greg starting. He's progressing at a solid rate and if we bring a young guy in it usually takes them a while before they can be considered legitimate starters. QB and WR are probably the 2 positions that take the longest time to develop.

FA on the other hand is a seperate issue. I dont know if this FO is gonna go after a big name receiver this upcomming offseason, but indications of FA tags and overpriced names does not make it seem likely.

With that being said, i expect Greg to start next year but after that i dont know we'll just havta see how he develops. But yeah this guy as a slot receiver is definately a luxory.

Him and Bess can be slot monster, with the way Ginn is progressing as the go to guy, I doubt we are looking at recievers. Though I would love a 6'4 beast across Ginn.

I think we should move Ginn to the slot and draft a real WR 1 and let Cam be the third.

I'm willing to bet Camarillo will primarily be a No. 3 receiver at best most of his career. He would be a slot receiver on most teams. He'll contribute but he'll never be a full-time starter for years at a time.

The Dolphins are going to look for another WR or two in the upcoming draft. They would be foolish not to look for one. Anyways, that being said it's nice that we have a guy like Greg who can excel as #3 WR, and then step up and be a solid #2 WR.

Go sign Housh in the offseason. Guys a stud. Draft secondary and on the lines. Impossible to draft WR, such a guess. Ginn perfect speed guy, Housh all around unreal, and Camarillo just signed a great #3. Add Fasano, a good oyung OLine, some good backs, and Pennington/Henne. Miami would be well set on the O side for some time. Then just draft D this year.

The way their playing, there is no 1, 2 or 3. It's who has the played called to or who is open.

In an ideal situation, he would be a Brandon Stokely type of slot WR .. .and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Those guys can be real weapons.

I do agree that the Dolphins need a "go-to" WR possession guy who fills the Keyshawn prototype.
