Anyone else see these two as sort of split head coaches, with Cameron running the offense and Capers with the D? I mean, I think even Capers' salary is larger. I'm happy with the signing but I hope that problems don't come out of this and split the team in half. If it all works out, though, the team should be pretty damn productive on both ends of the football.

Split head coaches? Nope. We are not the Bears of the 80s when Buddy Ryan was able to run the defense any way he wanted because he knew Ditka couldn't fire him.

Ditka and Buddy didnt get along but one thing you have to remember friends or not they won a superbowl...and for all im concerend Cam and Capes can want to cut off each other sac for all i care as long as we WIN!!

by the way as soon as i heard we were going to sign capers for all that money i figured it was going to be kind of a two head coaches type situation...listening to cam talk i think its pretty clear he will have nothing to do with the defense...Im pumped go dolphins..

My only concern is loyalty. These guys need to be loyal to each other but moreso Capers to Cameron as he is the headcoach. Whenever a player shows preference Capers should stop it immediately and remind everyone who's the head coach. I believe the only reason we made Cameron headcoach was because we couldn't make him our offensive coordinator. I really think Wayne would have handed Capers the reign had we been able to hire Cameron as an OC. So the only way of bringing Cameron down was to offer him the HC position. I really hope this isn't a problem in the future and I hope they are both one. I hope players don't get stupid (specially on defensive side) and I feel that Cameron should have some input on the Defense every now and then. I'm assuming since Cameron is headcoach he will make final call on who to keep all starting lineups, whether it's offense or defense right?

I know they won a superbowl and that's why I brought them up. Capers will the defense but that doesn't make him a co-head coach. It means Cameron will be smart enough to let Capers do what he does best without interference from the head coach.

I guess that Dom doesn't share the concern about split coaching duties since he signed the extension as soon as they named Cam as the HC.

Interesting question, Cameron will have to have some say in the defense or else they need to hire an Assistant DC so that Capers can work the sidelines instead of being up in the booth. I would think it's likely to end up a process where Cameron learns the defense over time so he can talk with the players on the sidelines and confer with Capers in the booth.

I don't follow them much,so I don't know for sure. But isn't it sort of like that with the Bucs? Kiffin is in control of the D (he is a highly paid DC) and Gruden basically runs the Offense.

It's exactly like the Bucs. Gruden doesn't have a single finger, much less a hand in the running of the Bucs Defense. Even the hires on the defensive staff go through kiffen, NOT Gruden. The only problem it leads to is that Gruden's post game press conferences more times than not include him speaking primarily about the what the defense did or didn't to do help support his "GREAT HIGH POWERED OFFENSE" in helping them win games. But I do see Cam working 90% with the offense and about 5% with Sp. Teams and 5% with Dom and the defense.

Well, your close. But with the title HC...Cameron has the final say so.

The way I see it

Cam has the power to do anything with the defense he wants, but he wont because he knows Dom is a top 5 defensive mind and he isnt.

So its sort of like split head coaches I guess.

It's the Capers defense and the Cameran offense. That's how it's going to be.

I totally agree. And I like it a lot. It is like having two head coaches. Capers should be totally capable of running the defense with minimal input from Cameron. And Cameron will have free reign with the offense I'm sure.

I do wonder where Mularkey fits in. He may have the "OC" title, but I doubt he will do much without Cameron's approval. Mularkey may be gone in a matter of a month or so.
