Cameron, the draft, and the QB

sounds like normal head coach pub lic relations banter... thought it was interesting he chose to comment on the 2nd and 3rd year guys... (from previous regimes drafts) ... but was a good piece..
thanks bro.

i am beginning to like the guy more and more........he knows what he is talking about when it comes to QB's, and truth be told, Quinn didnt perform with the games close and on the line.

Thanks for the link, I enjoyed what he had to say. I hope he is right about the competition on the offense producing better results.

yea Quinn did not perform but Beck was 1-7 against ranked teams. Lets not let bias affect our judegements.Yea Beck really came up big against mighty Arizona, not. Well at least he pulled out the game versus Boson College, oh wait he did not do that either. Lets not forget the great game Beck had against USC 18 of 33 for 194 yards 1 TD and 3 interceptions. This is not a bashing of Beck, but if you are going to bash Quinn, you might want to check Beck in similar situations.

Honestly I think the arguments about Beck or Quinn that hinge around their respective teams wins/losses are disingenius. I know qb is the most important position in winning or losing games, but there is so much more to factor in. Obviously our front office felt that Beck's greater accuracy trumped Quinn's moxy. Frankly these were my two favorite qb prospects before the draft and still are. ( I am not a Russell fan.) At this point I don't see why there is so much polarity in how people feel about the draft. Half of this board seems to think we made the picks by pulling names out of a hat while the other half thinks we drafted four or five hall of famers. Why not give our current coach who has yet to take his team on the field once the benefit of the doubt and see what these players do?

to really get to know the player, what you need to do is focus on how he did on the road in the fourth quarter or in close games. I isolated all of those games for John Beck. That's the closest correlation to what he's going to be doing in the NFL every week.
I'm sure there were plenty of other criteria, but still interesting none the least.

I dont know why, but I always get the feeling Cam is being sincere when he talks. The part about him understanding the fan's concerns actually sounds like the truth and not just coachspeak. I remember even at his Day One Wrap Up Press Conference, he talked about how he completely understood and expected the fans reactions.

I also was intrigued when he said that never did a guy they were targeting end up being picked immediately before it was our turn. Basically, this meant we had Satele ranked above Kalil.

Cameron is interviewed @ miamidolphins.com Enjoy

Thanks for the link. I think this really stood out to me.
Q. You recently had the entire team together for mini camp. What impressions remain most vivid?

A. Just the improvement we've made. Obviously we have a solid defense. That stood out. We have a consistent defense with some great leadership in Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Keith Traylor, Yeremiah Bell and Joey Porter. They are all real pros. Yet I think our offense finally on Saturday of mini camp, after getting handled pretty well on Friday, finally responded and went out and competed.

We have to get to the point where we are truly competing at a high level every day so it's not so one-sided. I told the offense we have to compete against a good defense like ours. Let's not just roll over here. I didn't see much improvement in the offense in the first mini camp, but I saw it in the second mini camp. We now have a legitimate competition at a lot of positions, and that's good to see.

Where's the fun in that? (lol) You are making too much sense with this statement.

LOL I know, I know. Someone's going to come by in a minute and say, "but that's the whole point of the messsage board!"

There's just so little rationality going on lately. It seems like you either have to believe Beck is Steve Young reincarnated and Ginn is the WR version of Barry Sanders OR you have to believe Beck is Chris Weinke and Ginn is Yatil Green.

Mueller and Cameron had a vision and succeeded in executing their plan on draft day. Whether or not that will work is what the whole season is about. I think the main reason to watch sports is the eternal optomism because you never know what the season is going to bring be it good or bad.

I thought it was pretty interesting that he grouped Bell in with JT, ZT & Porter.
