Miami Dolphins standout defensive end Cameron Wake was back in practice on Tuesday with no visible injuries following a car accident in Plantation the day before.
The wreck occurred at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of South Nob Hill Road and Torchwood Avenue in Plantation.
According to Plantation Police, Wake slammed his black BMW into the side of a white Lexus that made a left turn in front of him at the intersection.
Wake was traveling northbound on South Nob Hill Road while the driver of the Lexus, Wallace Waldman, 70, of was heading in the opposite direction. Waldman was cited for violating Wake's right-of-way, said agency spokesman Detective Robert Rettig.
Both cars are considered totaled, he said.
Wake was not injured, while Waldman was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, Rettig said. Both men were wearing seat belts and the air bags were deployed in both vehicles, police said. Police noted alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
It is possible Wake could sit out Friday's game against the Carolina Panthers because of any lingering injuries, or the team's desire to evaluate younger players at his position during the Dolphins' second exhibition game. But if he does play, starters usually receive about 20 snaps at this point in the exhibition season.
