Cameron Wake - Paying it Forward

Nice read, nice guy. I still don't know if he's going to be on the team next year though. Considering he is carrying $9mill salary cap number, maybe some restructure is in the works. Wallace and Hartline should restructure as well. We need a lot of mula to retain and sign new guys.

Wake isn't a leader. He may be charitable, and shares his knowledge, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a leader. It's well reportred that he he's very quiet in the lockerroom, Very rarely gives pregame speeches etc.

And yes, he's definitely declined as the season wore on. Our 7 loses suggests there were plays left on the field. He deserves the same criticism as the rest of the team, and the same recognition as the rest of the team. A mediocre observation for a likely 8-8 team.

Agreed, he is not a leader, vocally anyway. And it's great he's charitable and all but that doesn't mean he should be guaranteed a spot on this team. I love the guy and what he can bring BUT we need to be more like Bellichik and get rid of guys while they are on the decline. How do you think the Pats maintain a winning record year after year.

Our luck, we would get rid of him and he would go to the Patriots, no thank you.

When the Pats let someone go, they have someone to replace him...

Cam Wake is definitely a leader. Not sure what you guys are talking about. He's not a rah-rah cheerleader type of guy, nor does he prance around the locker room like a neanderthal beating his chest, but neither was Zach Thomas. That's not what leadership is. Cam Wake has taken many of the younger players under his wing, he's humble, he shows up for work every day, stays out of trouble, he produces, gets voted team captain, and is a role model type of player. His skills may have diminished but he's definitely a leader.

Hey, I said not a leader "vocally". LOL didn't say he didn't lead by example because he does

Well I'd argue that he is a vocal leader as well.

And I'd argue that also. It's been said in the locker room that he's not, you never see him on the sidelines before or during the game chanting to his teammates, and for what's it's worth because I hate local beat writers like everyone else, but it's been written that he's not vocal at all.
I would have to lean on the majority of what's been put out there

I'm sure he talks in the team meetings and on the practice field. You don't get voted team captain for nothing. Just because he doesn't put on a spectacle for the media doesn't mean he's not a vocal leader.

Even the premise of the blog entry linked in the OP is that Wake is a vocal leader, teacher, and mentor to other players.
