Dolphins outside linebacker Cameron Wake joined Evan Cohen on ESPN 760 (WEFL-AM) in West Palm Beach, Fla. Wednesday afternoon. The veteran, entering his third season, spoke on a variety on topics, the most notable of which are transcibed below.

On if he was shocked that Channing Crowder retired...
Yes, I'm shocked. Now if you ask me how serious or how much I believe it, that's a whole [other] question. So yeah, I was shocked to hear about it but I know that guy is a football player, so I think it will be kind of hard for him to stay away from the game.

On if he believes Crowder will play another game...
I think he will. I mean, I think this is one of those situations where maybe he's weighing his options or maybe things didn't necessarity go his way. But at the end of the day I know him, and being around him for three years, he's a football player, and he's definitely got some more games in him.

On what's more difficult about playing in CFL than NFL...
Well people, I mean, I noticed a couple of games that come on the NFL Network, so the people are getting a little bit more of an opportunity to see what it's like up there. But the rules are definitely often, biased, I guess you could say. People don't realize that the neutral zone is a yard, so you have to line up a yard from the ball and that's obviously going to be impacting on pass rushers, number one. The field is longer and wider so you got the guy who is chasing the ball sideline-to-sideline, that's another I think ten or so yards he's got to go. And then the end zone obviously is bigger too, also, so those DB's have to cover a little longer. They get a running start which is obviously for the offense, and it's another player on the field. It's not necessarily one of those things where the defensive players is helped, but obviously at the end of the day it makes you better because you have to have a better get-off. You do have to work on your closing speed or sideline-to-sideline with your conditioning with only three downs instead of four. I mean, there's a lot of things that I think in that game really really helped me out when I came down and transitioned over to this.

On if it's harder to play defense in the the CFL than in the NFL...
I think on paper it definitely is. I mean, the players are different. I mean obviously with a larger field, and wider, you have a different set of players. I was a “4-3 D-end” up there because you know what, you're not going to have those 290 pound guys that can run sixty yards across the field, you know it's a little different, or get off the ball the way maybe a smaller guy can. So you get smaller, more agile types of players so I think at the end of the day it ends up evening out. But for me, you line me up a yard away from the pack, it's definitely going to make it harder for me to get to the quarterback.

On if he can do anything better now than when Jason Taylor was in his prime...
I wasn't around when he was in his prime. I've seen videos, I've heard stories. So it's a lot of things that guy can do, I mean he did it all. His get-off was amazing, he obviously got to the quarterback. Maybe keeping weight on him. We've got a couple of stories, he said he's a lot lighter than he was telling everybody he was. So I'm a little bigger than he was when he was in his hay day, so he was obviously an amazing player and there's not much more to that.

On if there are parts of Dolphins practice that need to be kept completely private...
Oh well I definitely think so. I mean, I don't think this is something unique to the Dolphins. This is any organization or sports, or any kind of competition where what you have stays in-house. It's kind of like a fraternity mentality and what goes on in the locker room, and goes on on the practice field, stays there. You don't want to give anybody any kind of competitive advantage or any insight as to what you're bringing forth when you do go into competition. I mean, it could be something so small as a scheme, or somebody's ankle, I mean anything. You don't want anybody to know anything that you don't present to them from yourself. So yeah, I definitely think that's something that you definitely have to put in.

On if he knows of players that would have failed NFL PED drug tests in the past...
I can't tell you that I've ever witnessed anything like that, but if you would've asked me, “Do I think if you tested everybody in the game, would people fail?”...I would say yes. I'm one of those guys that like to take pride in following the rules and doing things the right way, and I don't really have anything to hide. At some point, there's a line where you don't want your privacy issues and so-on and so-forth, but at the end of the day if you want everybody to be on a level plain and you want everybody to do it the same way, I mean, how do you remedy those things? I'm sure that at some point there will be a lot of issues with people getting caught and things they shouldn't be doing, but everybody is a professional. You're a grown man. You should know what you're putting in your body and that's on you.

I wish every player on this team had his mentality. Dude is hungrier than Rex Ryan at Thanksgiving.

Wake is a damn freak of nature if he isn't on PED's. The guy is cutup like Michelangelo statue...

First of all will post on any thread i feel like. Big deal i was wrong about one of the most unlikley events in the history of the NFL. Second of all I assume he doesnt because he hasnt been caught yet and all athletes take a variety of supplements to help them get in best shape possible. From year to year rules change and some new items are put on the banned list. Im in the army and even though I know thats not being in the NFL I know most of the guys that are in that kind of shape take anything they can to get in that shape especially infantry. If we actually did steroid tests there would be alot of failures and from doing inspections I see the myriad of supplemenst these guys take.

back to point one so u have never been wrong on any players the dolphins have aquired
