I know we cant consider him like a first round draft pick but if he would have been i this years draft and played in college the way he played in Canada (not as in stats just performance) what round we he go in

if he played like he did in canada he would be a sure first round draft pick

Considering that Wake may be the best Miami FA signing to date, I find it amazing that folks keep ignoring him in their evaluation of the Dolphins' FA period. Wake was a one man force of nature in the CFL. If his output is reduced by half in the NFL, Miami has the biggest FA steal of the year.

youre right he would be posting up about 10 sacks

another thing will he be considered a rookie (DRMVP)

Good thought. Gotta believe the CFL level of play is at least comparable to the SEC.. and if that's the case, hard to argue against Wake being a top 2 round pick.

If he produced in College like he did in Canada he'd be a top 5 pick. the guy didn't just play well in Canada he Dominated. The Production alone would have made him a top pick but then his combine #'s would have sealed it. Miami would have NO shot at this kid. Wake supposedly runs a 4.55 which would be the fastest out of any DE/LB in this draft, his vertical jump is also off the charts, and I'm sure he'd put up crazy #'s on the bench. Wake has ALL of the measurables and put up crazy #'s in Canada, if all of this even halfway translates to the NFL then we got such a steal with this guy.

This guy has played zero downs in the NFL. He may only see the field as a special teamer. He has yet to make a roster in the nfl and we got him dirt cheap. If this guy has three sacks this year, I will be happy. To say he would be a second rounder is crazy! He had his shot at the draft and couldn't make it. It's good that he went to canada and refined his game but he had 8.5 sacks in 4 years at Penn State and had 16 in the cfl last year...that should tell you about the comp in canada.

Let's be realistic with this guy. I hope Im wrong but there should be little pressure on him to succeed.

What SEC player has played a single NFL down either? My point is simply that if he's playing at the level of the SEC college conference, his performance would merit that type of strong consideration given that he's got the measurables that are valued in the draft. If you think the CFL level and quality of competition is more akin to Arena football, then there's more fuel for your argument. My rationale is that those who can't make it in the CFL end up in The Arena League.. and that someone like JaMarcus Russell when at LSU would have had less success against CFL defenders than those in the SEC.. yet he was drafted at #1. So why not the top defender for two straight years up there being drafted earlier rather than later?? Now does that translate into success?? Certainly not, but it's still useful IMO as a measurement benchmark.

Irish: The knock on Cam Wake at Penn State is that he was lazy and relied upon his natural athleticism. He quickly descended to JoPa's sh_t list. Being cut from the NFL and then having to work for a living appeared to wake the kid up. Cam grew up and took full advantage of his opportunity in the CFL, putting on a great deal of muscle mass and speeding up in the process.

Cam reminds me of a less mouthy young Joey Porter and actually looks like Joey.

Go take a look at the youtube video of Cam here.

Any professional football league is better than any college conference. That should be obvious. I agree that it makes no sense to compare him to players being drafted. You know more about Cam Wake than you do any individual in the draft. Draft is about potential, and you have to pay for potential. I am not sure how well he will perform, but I will be disappointed if he does not record at least 5 sacks.

Your points are good but there are very few success stories from the cfl. Im just saying that people need to be realistic. He has NEVER made an NFL roster and has had chances to. I think that he certainly has the measurables to be successful.

Like I said, he has certainly improved his game but you can just look at the Doug Flutie argument. Flutie was a nice NFL QB but in Canada, his numbers were obsene. The CFL is not good football and I will argue that all day. I think Wake can contribute but people who are just expecting him to be a 10-12 sack performer need to chill. I think it will be a tough transition for him and wouldn't be surprised if he plays special teams and backup LB..ala Ayanbadejo.

Thanks for the info Phan. I believe he is better than the past but I just don't want people to be unrealistic. He looks like he has a little HGH in him! LOL.

any dude putting up numbers in canada i'd take with a grain of salt, a side of maple bacon and a cold labatts blue.
