I think Culver is only an emergency plan starting FS this year. He is just too important in other areas to make him the starting FS. He does so many things in the nickle and dime as the extra DB. He understands all they want him to do and does them all quite well. On the other hand he doesn't have the range to make a very good starting FS. Add all these things together and I think you have to understand that if Culver is the starting FS it means our defense is not gonna be nearly as good as we think it can be this year.
On the other hand there will be some growing pains with Clemons, but I think they are worth it. He has the smarts and God given ability to be a great FS. Now whether it all translates to the field is another story, but I think it's safe to say "if culver is the starting FS this defense will not be all it can be".
