Camp Report day 5 morning practice.

Hey guys. Let me look at my notes.

AJ Feeley #7 WAS out there today. I made sure.

-Ricky looked good at RB. He was making some good moves.

-The 1st guy out to the practice field was Jeff Zgonina.

-Manny Wright didn't practice again but was on the bike. He needs to turn all that fat into muscle.

-Stockar was not out there, I don't know if you guys know or not but his brother Jerome was shot and is in the hospital. McIntosh filled in for him at RT on the 1st team.

-Mario Edwards, Tebucky Jones, Shirdonya Mitchell, Vonnie Holliday, Junior Seau, and Eddie Moore were out there but didn't practice.

-I have some quotes from Edwards while he was working w/ the LB'ers: "explode out of the hips."

"eyes up"

"explode through"

"keep eyes open"

"see your target"

-Chambers had a nice one handed catch.

-I was watching some line drills and on one play the base D was a 4-3 and off the snap the left DT #92 Vickerson initially attempted to rush but then dropped back 10 yards as a robber. Interesting. On one other play Vickerson beat St Clair real bad. Although for the most part St Clair has been doing a nice job.

-I have to tell you Vernon Carey was dominant out there. One time I saw JT beat him and I thought that it was more of the QB's fault bc/ Carey road him to the outside but the QB didn't step up so he was right in JT's path. On the next play JT attempted a spin move but he was stopped dead by Carey. On one running play Carey was pulling out and was trying to push a defender to the outside so that Ricky would have a lane but Carey didn't get his man all the way out so the whole closed. After the play I saw Carey clap his hands in frustration and say "damnit" He appears to care and wants to get better. I was pleased to see him get frustrated rather then just walk it off and not care. Another thing, there were some plays where it would appear that Carey was getting beat bad by JT bc/ he just touched him and let him go, well, what was happening was Carey was either blocking down or picking up a blitzer. They were simulating a TE or RB being there to block JT. Then later on in 11 v. 11 the RB was there to block him.

-Hadnot had a good practice today, much better then yesterday.

-McKinney did alright. Not as good as yesterday but better then he had been doing.

-Berlin made a beautiful pass to WR #16 on a fade in the endzone.

-WR #17 had a nice one handed grab.

-Mare looked shaky on FG's. When he was practicing FG's from 30-40 yds a few were going off the upright.

Did u see Welker get any time at WR?

He was out there after practice working with a machine catching balls.

You see Shulters at all?

If he's #47, yes. Saban was talking with him a lot giving him instructions as was #36 Chris Akins.

Thanks for the report.

Question: Do the coaches video tape practices ? They could use it to look back at what they may have missed.

Good Stuff, did AJ come back strong, and elevate his play with a day off?

Thanks for the good report D-man. Good to see Carey doing well out there. I almost had a heart attack when I saw you put "mourning" report, I thought "Oh god...I hope there weren't a lot of injuries", luckily it was a false alarm.

Yes they do.

I didn't watch enough of the QB's to know. All I know is he was out there.
