Campbell second practice press conf

Hes definitely entertaining...talked an awful lot about the oline which is music to my ears

Two things:

1) I like how he mentioned Moreno as a notable example of how sometimes the RB can energize an offensive line, like KM did last year against the Patriots on our home opener. Not blaming Lamar for our non-existent running game, but what Moreno did last year (when he was healthy) was definitely something we need from our RBs.

2) He nailed it when he mentioned how this team hasn’t been complementing each other at all throughout the first 4 games. Our defensive struggles have caused our offense to play from behind a lot, forcing us to pass-pass-pass instead of having a more balanced O. The offense has failed to move the chains as well, causing our defense to stay on the field more and letting the other teams do as they please. Our slow starts have been on both offense and defense, and that needs to change. I like how coach Campbell recognizes that. And I like how he says that we either start faster or "stop the bleeding" somehow. We can't keep falling on this vicious cycle of: Start slow -> Fail on offense -> Allow a score on defense -> Fail on offense again -> Allow another score on defense -> Etc. It has to stop.

Curious to see what moves he actually makes. I honestly get the impression that he will keep the personnel as is for this Tennessee game with the emphasis to everyone, how you play during this game determines if you will start next week.

I wish he would out right replace people right now. But I sense he wants to come across as being fair and giving you at least a game to prove yourself

He needs to build some additional credibility. He promoted staff and recognized Rizzi when Philbin hid the extra work Rizzi was doing. For the players, it is important that they are measure from his first practice forward. There are two data points so far. OK drill practice and today. If Thomas did well in those, he may get a chance during the game. I find it hard to believe he did, but who knows.

How can you not pull for this guy. Whether he makes it or not it is such a nice change to not have to listen to "coach speak". Guy knows what he feels and isn't afraid to say it. I'm cautious but I really don't see how there isn't going to be at least some noticeable difference against Tenn.

Makes me want to get a shirt made that says "My coach can beat your coach's ass!!"

That had to be Omar that flubbed the question re: the runningbacks (said rbs were averaging 7 ypc) "whoops! I meant 70 yards a game!" :bobdole:

I'm glad I'm not the only person on the planet that realized what made Moreno special. Guy not only had heart, courage, will, desire and ability....he told the team to get on his back.

He made the OL block for him. He willed us to victory that day.

And if Miller can't do it and the OL can do it for themselves, then get me someone back there who chews out the OL after every play until we win the game.

Seriously, when it is notable that a FA is one of the few guys on your team that motivates everyone else to play... you have a huge problem. Great teams have Moreno's all over the roster. Moreno wasn't even top dog in DEN. Any questions?

Man up GENTLEmen.

Good stuff....dude already looks 10 years older...he's obviously been working his ass off. Already super comfortable with press, gave us some ideas of what's changing. Love the new "all in all the time" motto. This guy is easy to root for, seems like the real deal to me. If he doesn't stay here, wouldn't be surprised if others are following closely. You can just tell he's thriving in this role....would be great if it translated to some wins!

Anyone catch at 9:57 he mentions the TE's saying "I don't know who coached those guys but they have to be better"......making a joke (since he was the TE coach previously) but it seems like no one got it. LOL

Yea, that was hilarious. And he just went on like it was a serious comment, lol. I was wondering if anybody in the media was chuckling or if they completely missed it.

I love this man so much. Seriously this dude is just the perfect HC in theory. You know what separates him from just being a rah rah position coach type is there's a lot of truth in what he says. He's identifying problems and he's providing solutions. I infinitely prefer a man who speaks honestly and truthfully over the evasive coachspeak bull**** that Joe dribbled out every week. Hearing him speak about the oline and bringing in Saunders to work with WRs, etc. I feel really confident about his grasp of this team offensively. Defensively... I really wish we'd brought in a Saunders equivalent to help on that side. Getting rid of Coyle and promoting Lou isn't enough for an HC without any experience on the defensive side. I'd feel a lot better if we'd landed Mike Smith, if not DC, then in a consultant role.
