Since it's looking more and more like Gase might be the guy, instead of a vet HC like Shanahan or Hue Jackson, let's compare him to Campbell who is similarly green. Here are the qualities I feel are crucial for a head coach:

Leadership
Management Skills
People Skills
Football Strategy (X's and O's)
Staff Building
Teaching

Who do you believe possesses more of these qualities?

Interestingly, I think it's almost split. If you could combine the two you would have a very strong candidate.

I think Campbell wins over Gase on:
Leadership
Management Skills
People Skills

While Gase wins over Campbell on:
Football Strategy (X's and O's)
Staff Building
Teaching

The tie breaker would be experience. Interestingly, Campbell who has never been an OC actually has more experience when it comes to being an HC. He has already gone through the gauntlet once and now knows what to expect. Gase still doesn't know what he doesn't know.

The other thing that Campbell has going for him over Gase is that he played football for several years on the NFL level, while Gase notoriously never played football at college or NFL level. That kind of thing can make a difference in the locker room as we saw from how the players initially reacted to Campbell over Philbin.

Considering all the players actively rooting for Campbell to win the job, Gase's lack of football experience could hurt him initially in the locker room. It will be much more difficult for him to win over the players (still loyal to Campbell) than it would be for a vet coach like Shanahan who has Super Bowl rings on his fingers.

If Gase gets the job he will have his work cut out for him. I hope he is ready.

I'm not buying nor do I care who these lazy ass players want. If they wanted Campbell as much as they want to proclaim then why did you not play like it?

You cant compare Campbell to Gase... They're actually the exact opposite type of coach... Gase would beat Campbell at chess 95 times out of a hundred.. while if you gave each guy 5 random fighters, Dan's guys would beat the **** out out of Gases's guys... At least thats what Campbell is selling, because he hasnt even proven that to be very honest...

It really bothers me that Gase is as young as he is and never played. Give me a proven vet or stick w Campbell.

Why are you comparing Campbell to Gase? They aren't in the same solar system.

Oh yeah? Ridiculous.

It's so generous of Gage to share his genius with our humble team. If he has time after gameplanning our 16-0 season maybe he'll cure cancer and revolutionize space travel.

It's nice to see that our recent failures with coaching hires hasn't affected our fanbases ability to be unrealistic and delusional. In a stronger organization surrounding Campbell with talented coordinators would have been an extremely interesting coaching situation moving forward. Since our organization is not strong and is in fact a dumpster fire then just relying on the standard tactic of hiring the hot OC name which is fine. It's all pretty pointless with the organization as it is now.

Well I have no idea who wrote this article, or whether the author has any credibility, but according to him the plan is to hire Gase as HC and keep Campbell on as assistant HC.

Something that I'm not entirely against if it were to happen this way....but as I said this guy might just be making **** up

I'm not sure if keeping Campbell on as Asst.HC is wise idea. If the head coach was some experienced vet like Coughlin then sure you could possibly do that and succeed. But, If Gase turns out to be the HC I don't think it's wise from a management point to have an imposing figure like Campbell standing next to him. The players already "supposedly" take to Campbell and feel he should of been the HC and not Asst.HC. Now you're going to put this young inexperience HC in Gase next to that and say to players he's the HC?

Don't do that to your new HC that's more likely to create problems than a smooth and obvious power structure. AS much as I like Campbell you can't keep him around. You need a total and complete separation. One voice! It starts and ends with Gase!

Very good point/s, guess we'll have to wait and see. Personally I like Campbell but he isn't/wasn't ready to be a HC, and I agree that forcing a new coach to keep a former coach on staff is like starting out with one hand tied behind your back.

I see Campbell as assistant coach, not assistant HC in the article. I do have a concern where he fits though.

Campbell has about as much of a shot at being our HC of the Dolphins as I do.......***et aboutit

Campbell can go back to TE coach and get more experience for possibly another shot years down the road..

Yeah you're probably right. New coaching hires are one of the few times Dolphins fans get to be deliriously happy and hopeful. As much as I hate this organization, I'm going to pull back and let you guys all enjoy yourselves.
