Key re-signings/additions: TE Jordan Cameron, TE Ryan Taylor, DT Ndamukong Suh, CB Brice McCain, WR Kenny Stills, C J.D. Walton

Key subtractions: WR Brandon Gibson, WR Brian Hartline, TE Charles Clay, CB Cortland Finnegan, RB Daniel Thomas, G Daryn Colledge, DE Derrick Shelby, DT Jared Odrick, OT Jason Fox, OLB Jason Trusnik, SS Jimmy Wilson, OLB Jonathan Freeny, RB Knowshon Moreno, G Nate Garner, LB Philip Wheeler, CB R.J. Stanford, DT Randy Starks, C Samson Satele, G Shelley Smith, WR Mike Wallace, LB Dannell Ellerbe

As you can see, there are significantly more subtractions than additions at this point. The Dolphins, after going 8-8 the past two seasons, felt changes needed to be made with personnel in order to get over the hump and end the team’s six-year playoff drought.

Wow there was a net of about 14 significant subtractions during free agency. They've had 37 player visits. I think they're headed in the right direction, but there's probably going to be a lot of players contributing that are not on the team yet. Maybe this is the year we finally get a win against the Texans and sweep the AFC South. That could be one road to the playoffs.

Thanks for putting this in perspective.....we have a lot of holes to fill in FA, I give the FO credit for making the move on some of the subtractions but I am in the wait and see what they replace them with mode.....I count 9 subtractions they will be hard to replace with better talent, hopefully we add a few veterans with a couple of good yrs left after June 1st....but as of right now we are not a better team than last yr.

this is obviously a crap article:

Uh, no

Also, if Ryan Taylor is a key re-signing/addition, what about Matt Moore, Josh Freeman, LaMichael James, A. J. Francis, Kelvin Sheppard, Spencer Paysinger, Zack Bowman, Michael Thomas, etc.

I always want to ask, when people are talking about rebuilding...what are we trying to rebuild? This team has not really been built into anything of consequence in 20 years. So the question (to me) is, can we build with 6 picks? My feeling is that we can take steps in the right direction if we don't throw too many picks away. Coincidentally that is also something we have done too much the past 2 decades.

The NFL comes down to a few plays most Sundays, that determine winning and losing. A stellar draft could certainly help us win a few more games, but against the elite playoff teams, I don't think we can expect to be competitive enough to go on a run in January if we were to get there.

We will maybe miss Clay, Wallace, Odrick , Starks...rest is trash. Suh is an upgrade to Starks+Odrick, Cameron has potential to fill in nicely for clay(barring concussion issues, tho clay was oft injured too) and stills for Wallace may not be an upgrade, but don't think it's that big a drop off...let's make these picks count, need to find rookies that can contribute in some way this season for us to be playoff contenders
