can a coordinator be a position coach as well?

With the packers recievers coach and bengals db coach coming aboard more than likely..It may be a dumb question but I wanna know if Bennett is still goin to coach the recievers and Coyle the dbs

I guess they could, but more likely then not, they will hire separate position coaches. Coyle and possibly Bennett will just be coordinators.

To answer the original question...yes. There are a few OCs in the league who are also QB coaches...I think Cam Cameron is one for Baltimore. That's just one example. I don't know of any DCs that pull double duty and it's extremely rare on the defensive side of the ball.

As for those two guys coming onboard and doing it, I think it would be highly unlikely a first time coordinator would try to pull double duty. But I have my doubts that either one of those guys join us, even more doubts any coach from Green Bay joins us jsut becaue of their "unwritten rule".

I came across a few DC when researching candidates that a few of them also held the title of secondary coach. I cant remember the names though. Sorry.

Those are just titles though, many head coaches and coordinators work with their specialty. Nick Saban spen a lot of time with our secondary, and Sparano with the OL. You dont really need the title to be a positional coach.

When a coordinator is also a position coach it's usually the case that the head coach actually callls the plays on that end. So while the coach has the title of offensive or defensive coordinator he doesn't have the same degree of responsibility as other coaches with that title.
