Can Anyone tell me why we passed on Rodgers?

Because on draft day in April, Ricky wasn't a sure thing. (is he now?), we had a greater need at RB than QB.

Are you saying we should have drafted him at #2, because no one from #3-#23 where interested. Why should we have been?

because Wanny isnt the coach anymore....Rogers wasnt a number 2 pick....nor was he a top 10 pick he was about a 15-20 that just dropped right in Green Bay's lap....Alex Smith isnt even valuable at the 2

Simple Saban saw more value with Ronnie and AJ/Gus than he did w/ Rogers and Williams maybe/Gordon.

I agree Alex Smith was not worthy of number one and if he was available at 2 I think he would have only been trade bait to saban. With that being said that is why we passed on rogers

I will first start off saying I like Ronnie and am glad we have him.

However, I personally wanted Mike Williams or Aaron Rodgers at #2.

Simple reason, Rodgers is gonna be a stud and better then Smith. Smith passed Rodgers only due to combines, before that Rodgers was a clear #1. Not taking anything away from Smith, he will be good too. He was justa combine hero.

I felt that getting Rodgers was a better idea only because I knew Ricky would be back. If he didn't we now had a 2nd rounder. JJ Arrington may have fallen to our spot at the time or we could have traded up to get him. Also the RB I really wanted Deangelo Williams could have been had next season.

Even though I Like Feeley. I feel that Rodgers will be better then any QB coming out next year save Matt Leinhart. That's just my opinion though.

Oh yeah we were in all but 1 game last year with a mediocre RB squad and horrible QB play. Imagine if we had solid QB play. That's the main reason I wanted a QB.

I felt we were competitive enough without a star RB already that we could do another season without a legit star at RB. So IMO QB was more imperative to get taken care of.

Careful, everyone thought he was a top 5 pick. It was a big surprise he fell so far. Use the pre-draft mentality, not post-draft. People were talkign about Green Bay drafting someone like Frye, not Rodgers.

Not everyone thought he was a top 5 pick. It wasn't a surprise that he fell. Almost everyone on this board thought he would fall. You weren't even on this board in April. Taking Rodgers would have been a huge reach.

Everyone here maybe, but not everyone who mattered....the people in the FO's of all the teams who passed on him. I think Brown brings more to the team than Rodgers would have. How many rookie QB's have any success their 1st year? Not too many. RB's have a much easier time of adjusting to the NFL and making a significant contribution early in their careers.

I was here, lurking about. I have been lurking for a very long time. I know for a fact ALOT of people had him very high. In fact many people had him at #1. Even on draft day AFTER Smith's combine, a fair amount of people called the 49ers drafting Rodgers. His slide was a huge surprise to alot of people here (I am not saying maybe you didn't think he'd slide, but I know alot of others didn't). Even on draft day the "experts" were surprised.
