Can Grier survive Flores?

Your logic is all over the place. But that's another story.
Ross has shown as an owner he's going to give his staff a chance to prove themselves. He's done it with..Saban, Philbin and Adam.
It goes without question of all these those coaches Flores has gotten the rawest deal from the beginning.

Ross, for all his faults, gives his people a chance. Thank goodness for that!

Too many on this board operate in extremes...
Clearly, and apparently a surprise to many including yourself, this new coaching staff isn't humming like the NE Patriots right out the gate.

I swear i would have a lot more respect for people if this were half-way through the season and we had a chunk of games and periods in between to evaluate.
But the hysteria is unwarranted at this time. This isn't magic! This stuff takes time for EVERYONE including the coaching staff.

You are right he’s not going to get fired, nor should he (unless this continues at this magnitude). However that game was a debacle. It was as you said an “extreme,” which should understandably merit an extreme response by the fan base. It was one of the highest points allowed in the modern era. If we lost by 20 or even 30, that’s within the norm. However, we didn’t, we lost by 49! That just doesn’t happen in today’s nfl. I fully expected this team and coaching staff to struggle. There’s a lot of new going on with this team. That’s is no excuse though for what we witnessed Sunday, which is what you appear to be doing.

The stuff insanity is made of.

Whats insane is believing fans would take a tank laying down. We've been bad for a long time and one thing is for certain: fans will freak out over every little thing.

Whats being overlooked/conveniently forgotten about is all the drama that comes with losing. Its already started. Wait until players start getting benched/benching themselves and the "leaks." Flores better learn to handle himself a little better in front of the camera than he did after week one, that is for sure.

Answering the original post question...

Not a chance. If Flores is fired, Grier is toast... and vice versa.

This yr is over. Only thing this staff can do. Draft well and spend money next yr.. I would give them 3 yr

WHATS WRONG WITH YOU ALL? FOR GODS SAKE IT'S GAME ONE OF A YEAR THAT THE FINS WILL SUCK IN... WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, A WIN ? MORE THAN HALF THE TEAM IS NEW AND 1/4 OF THE TEAM HAS BEEN THERE FOR LESS THAN A WEEK, NOW YOU ALL WANT TO FIRE THE GM AND THE COACH ??
JIMMY JOHNSON'S FIRST SEASON IN DALLAS WAS 1-15 WITH 28-0 DRUBBING THE FIRST WEEK HOW THAT WORK OUT?
BILL BILICHEAT FIRST SEASON FINISHED 4-12 AND WAS BEATEN PRETTY GOOD EVERY GAME HOW THAT WORK OUT ?
People need to stop comparing this tank to that Cowboys team. You’re comparing a 28-0 loss to a 59-10 evisceration? That cowboys team that went 1-15 didn’t give up 40 points in any game. And they weren’t beaten pretty good in every game, they only lost 3 games by 20+pts. It’s one thing to tank but people are alarmed at how Miami was just awful at everything to open the season vs Baltimore and gave up before the 2nd qtr. not a good look on the coach.

If you are old enough to remember those bad Cowboy years... There were cameras in the Cowboys war room (one of the first times this had been allowed) and the Cowboys just kept trading for more picks... over and over... it wasn't that they drafted particularly well... it was that they traded extremely well.... live on ESPN.

Grier has survived everything else and keeps getting promoted despite making decisions like drafting Charles Harris. Of course he can survive. This dude could survive dying. He croaks at his desk and it turns into Weekend at Bernie's III.

and what did they pick in their very first draft? Jimmy at the helm...what did he do with the number one overall pick...not trade it that is for damn sure. He draft his QB.

There there… pat pat pat.

With the ridiculous amount of draft capital and cap space the franchise will have the next year or two, the real question is whether or not Ross trusts Grier to make the right decisions, plain and simple. I'm not nearly as embroiled into Grier's past as many here are (how involved was he, really, in the past?), but make no mistake about it .... decisions made the next 2 years in the draft and free agency will shape this franchise for the next decade, or longer, so it's an enormous responsibility. It's fun to have a ton of picks and play-money, but if you don't execute on it intelligently, this tank is all-for-not. Grier seems good at getting value in trades, but evaluating talent and making the right picks and signings for the future is nothing this franchise has done correctly in forever....

not sure why we would fire the man after one season. This team is designed to lose, and lose every game. coach can't even field any semblance of a real nfl roster because he's forced to start guys who should be working ups.

Whats going to happen year two with a rookie QB and a bunch of other rookies/new players to the scheme? We're probably going to finish 8-8 or worse. Are you willing to give Flores a 2-3 year pass even if there is no evidence he's good? And if they're bad then there is a good chance its all for nothing as they'll be picking bad players/ruining good players.

What the hell are we talking about? It's been one game. Let's see how things look after the bye. I'm sure Flo will have them playing better. And in addition we accomplished our main goal, we lost. I understand we need to look like a far better team very soon. I'm sure we will.

Im with WildBill...This season is about positioning for the future. Coach is good for at least 3 years until serious threats to his job come. The scary part is can they get it right even with the ammo to build a great squad.
