Hello fello :dolphin: fanz:

Just like all of you, I've begun to get past what Ricky did to us last season. But, I'm the first to admit that we need Ricky just as much as he needs us ($$$$) right now. He is still one of the top 3 running backs in the league and in his prime. I believe he will be great in his return this season.

However, contrary to his recent prediction, I don't think it's possible for Ricky to top 1,000 yds this season. First, he will only play in 12 games (not counting playoffs....I hope). Secondly, he will be sharing carries in all those games with both Ronnie and Lamar. Therefore, I just dont see him reaching 1,000 yds. What do all you think? Please share your thoughts.

Hard to say. He's going to miss the 1st 4 games. Ronnie will probably start, which means he will have to share time. It's a bad situation because the back that's in camp has a suspension to fulfill. The one that's holding out could start but is behind the learning curve. :fire: :fire:

their is no way he will if he serves the 4 game suspention and if ronnie brown is playing aside him

You ask "Can he get 1000 yds this season ?" The answer is simple...yes he can...the real question is "Will he ?" There is no doubt that IF he keeps his head on straight, stays off the wacky weed, regains his former strength, doesn't get injured, doesn't re-retire in late November, etc that he can do it. But there are a lot of IFs surrounding his return...he, so far, has seemed genuine and is doing and saying the right things...but that is "so far"...lets see

he is? how can you possibly say that when he hasn't even been tackled yet? He hasn't been crushed by a opposing defensive player yet. Nobody can possibly know how he'll respond once the real games start.

There are certainly a lot of bold predictions that happen every day on this board, with absolutely no evidence to back it up

he can get a 1000 yds....will he get a 1000 yds...that i don't know

The easy answer is "no". With the suspension and playing alongside Ronnie it probably isn't going to happen.

However......

I wouldn't be suprised to see L.Gordon moved after Ronnie's signed and we've played a couple of preseason games. That would at least help Ricky's cause of a 1,000 yard season.

If he returns to form, he's proven he can run for almost 2,000 yards, so 1,000 in 12 games wouldn't be unheard of. In fact, you could see Brown gain 800 (very respectable for a rookie) and Ricky gain 1,000. That would equal Ricky's best season of his career (1,800+ yards).

Plus with Ferrotte and Feeley at the helm, it's not inconcievable that Saban will run the ball 30+ times per game.

He will unless Brown gets into camp. Even then he will be our #1 RB and get most of the carries. Ricky is still one of the five top backs in the league.

Besides his rookie year, he's always recorded 1K (at least)

I think he can do it

him and Ronnie

haven't you watched ricky before? he does the crushing. he was only out of football for 1 year and it wasn't because of injury. he has 2 months before he'll be in his first regular season game and thats plenty of time to add another 10 -15 lbs. the guy is a natural phenom. as long as he wants it, he will be a premier back in the nfl.

I'd love to see it, especially if that means using Ronnie in the passing game more (motioning out of the backfield), but, again, with the 4 game suspension and rotating him and Ronnie in and out, it will be unlikely for him to surpass 1000 yards.

it all depends on Ronnie Brown...is Ricky capable of 1,000 yards in 12 games? certainly, but only if he isn't sharing carries

I'd be ecstatic with 900 and 6 TD's.

First off i do not think he will do it sharing carries and all . I think once brown gets here. If he ever agree to a contract which I hope is soon.

Second after missing over a year of football what makes you think Ricky is still a top 3 RB. He may not be the same. And there are an alful lot of backs out there that put up good numbers last year. Right now I don't see Ricky as even a top 5 until he step out on that field and starts producing like one. Which we will not know until at least preseason starts.
