This is a questoin i have been asking my self for a while now, if Ronnie Brown is not only ready to be the number one optoin back, but if hes good enought as well.

I know alot of you are very high on Ronni and i wish i was as optamistic, i like the guy alot just that i fear he will not be as great as we all think he can be.

I dont know if hes ready or not for his whole college carear he shared carries with Caddy and last year he shared the ball with ricky

(and imo he did horrible the first 4 games he played when he was the only back) Untill ricky came back from suspension, ronnie really didnt do ****

Maybe he just started off slow, or maybe he cant handle it, im just hopin its option one and he started off slow

a thing i dont like about ronnie is he dances around way too much behind the line of scrimmage, a guy wit his size and ability shouldnt be doing that.

This isnt a topic to bash Ronnie this is a topic to see what other finfans think of our HB and if they are having any doubts as well?

Like i said i like ronnie and i hope he becomes a star, but im just not to sold on him as of yet, i hope he proves me wrong come the start of the season

I think we will be fine. Ronnie Brown is a very quiet athlete, but he's a pretty damn hard worker. And when you have a coach like Saban, Ronnie won't have a day's rest in practice. Not sure if I read or watched it on the news, but it was said that he's been on the gym alot preparing himself for the next season. Who knows, maybe he will have a breakthrough season.

I think he will come back this season stronger than ever, and should rush realistically for about 1000-1200 yards this season.

These can Ronnie get it done threads are getting old. No one really knows if he can get it done until he does but there are some indications that he can.
1: He has taken it upon himself to get into the best shape he can in preparation for carrying much of the load this year.
2: He now knows what it takes to succeed as a professional running back. Meaning he cannot afford to be indecisive and commit himself to attacking the hole.
3: He showed last year, despite what some might think, that when he carries the ball more than 20 times, he is too much for defenses to handle.
4: He missed most of training camp and took him awhile, as did much of the offense, to get into sync with OC Linehan. This year he will be there at the start and should feel much more intuned with the offensive line and the OC.

Ronnie is disgusting.

This is totally subjective, but I watched every game and I think he's just nasty nasty.

He's disgusting.

Ummm...for the unhip crowd can you elaborate?

I am concerned with how high he runs. Running high lends to more fumbles and bigger hits on him. Yes, he lowers his shoulders when he sees it coming, but I am talking about between the tackles. I hope he has learned to stay lower (not an easy task) or he may not last a full year.

Sure.

I think he started hitting the hole pretty consistently after the midway point throughout the season. Regardless, I'm not going to knock his occasion to dance or look for a cut. I'm very confident in his abilities to find a hole and accelerate in a direction fast enough to gain yardage (see Carolina and KC runs and multiple Buffalo runs). His agility and speed give him multiple options out of the backfield and that's why he went #2 overall; he's not just a hit-the-hole-heavy kinda runningback. He's a 230+ pound runningback with 4.4 speed, flexible hips and a set of feet that act like they belong to a 125 pound man.

More importantly...

His body control is beyond impressive. He runs with a lean and when he gets his weight behind him (see Juggernaut from XMEN 3) he's got to be one of the most difficult backs to take down in the NFL. He also has an impeccable eye for anticipating contact. He moves his body as to expose the least bit of area, usually getting hit on the side of his thigh and breaking the tackle.

He's also got incredible hands. He attacks every pass in the air with them. Sometimes cathching with one hand behind him while diving. This leads me to his vision.

On that one handed catch, against Tampa Bay, he hit the floor with it, but immediately got up before Derrick Brooks could catch him and gained an additional 30 yards out of the play. That plus numerous 10 yard gains while bouncing through a field of defenders suggest to me that he sees the field differently than other backs.

Last but not least, potentially the most important fact for 2006, I truly believe that Ronnie is the best pass blocking runningback in the league. I don't even think it is close. He takes out incoming 300+ pounders like it's nothing. He dropped Sam Adams. He dropped Simeon Rice. He drops anybody who gets through while he's on blocking assignment. Daunte will love him like he's never loved another football teamate.

Look, besides Vernon Davis, who is not nearly as agile as he is, who's a bigger force to deal with?

Jamal Lewis doesn't get the speed that he does. It's not even close.

Neither does T.J. Duckett.

Or Ron Dayne.

Or Stephen Jackson.

Or Najeh Davenport.

And none of them run with as much lean as he does.

And he's infinitely more agile.

He's disgusting.

He did that in the beginning first four games, but then he did it ;ess and settled down. Don't alot of time in camp, to learn and get adjusted. If you watched the games later on you would see he didn't dance around or danced around less, so I'm not worried about his skills and I think he should hold up fine. He shared carries, because he had Caddy playing there, and why wouldn't you play both backs if you have that kind of talent for a backfield, which most college teams didn't have.

Most of his fumbles came from him trying to get extra yardage or diving over players, or (falling on his head), so I'm not too worried, considering he wan't stripped from the ball or it happened from the way he was carrying the ball or carelessly. I'm sure he has learned or will learn from Saban, that it's not always necessary to stretch out for the extra yard and risk turning the ball over.

he will do more than just get the job job this kid is going to be a elite back for years to come he is going to be one of the great ones i truely belive that.........:dolphins:
